Fontainebleau Palace, France, a World Heritage Site

The Palace of Fontainebleau is located in the town of Fontainebleau in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in northern France. The original meaning of "Fontainebleau" in French is beautiful spring. The area where the castle is located used to be a forest. In 1137, King Louis VII of France ordered the construction of a castle here.
