Mingzhu Tower

Mingzhu Tower is located at the top of Baizugang, north of Baiyun Mountain, and is a famous attraction here. The tower is surrounded by various famous flowers and plants, highlighting the antique charm of Mingzhu Tower. The tower was built in the early years of the Republic of China. It was originally a desolate hill. The local residents opened up the land to build a pavilion, enshrined the statues, and during the rule of the warlord Chen Jitang in Guangdong, his aunt Mo Xiuying changed the small pavilion into a villa. It is one of the most Lingnan-style buildings in Guangzhou. There is also a legend about Mingzhu Tower. It is said that during the Yuan Dynasty, the weaver Huang Daopo returned to his hometown from Yazhou and passed through Guangzhou. He taught his skills here. Huanglong in the north of the mountain learned about it and sent Huang Daopo a shiny pearl. Among the learners, there was a girl named Mingzhu. She studied hard and achieved excellent results. In order to encourage the girl to make progress, Huang Daopo gave the pearl to the girl when she returned to her hometown. The girl is now waiting here for Huang Daopo she misses, and what she wears on her head is the pearl that Huang Po gave her back then. The locals later renamed the place where Huang Daopo taught Mingzhu weaving skills to Mingzhu Tower.
