The Sumi Mountain Grottoes, located on the Mishan Mountain in the northwest of Guyuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is one of the top ten caves in China. It is now a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national key cultural relics protection unit. There are 162 caves, the largest of which is the Maitreya Buddha statue located not far from the entrance of the scenic spot. It can be seen as soon as it enters the gate. It is a landmark of the entire scenic spot. The Buddha is 20.6 meters high, and the posture is naturally coordinated, and the overall preservation is intact. Some details of the Buddha's image, not only the carving of the head is very beautiful, but even the folds of the Buddha's body are quite natural and beautiful. Imagine how superb craftsmanship at that time was. Unlike the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, which existed purely as historical sites, there are several temples in the Sumiyama Grottoes that have played a religious function to this day. Traveling to Ningxia, the Suishan Grottoes are worth a visit.
