Mong Kok Dinner and Dessert Spot

Having dinner in Mong Kok can be stressful if you haven't booked a table in advance. But sometimes, last-minute plans make it hard to book ahead. This time, we chose Gogo Wai Sik Fong in Portland 180+ Mall, and it was definitely the right choice. The restaurant occupies an entire floor, offering a spacious environment. In the evening, they serve a variety of small dishes, set meals, and soups. You can also enjoy desserts here, making it a perfect spot for friends who want to chat over dinner and dessert. The menu has a lot of options. We ordered three small dishes for two people, and two of them came with rice and drinks. Wonton Chicken A large pot for $148, with eight wontons and half a chicken. The broth is rich and golden, with a fresh and sweet taste. The wontons are meaty, and the chicken is tender, falling off the bone. The quality is comparable to restaurants that specialize in Shanghainese cuisine. Pomelo Ribs Calling them ribs is a bit misleading because they are very meaty and tender. The pomelo sauce on the outside is sweet and tangy, making it very appetizing and perfect with rice. Traditional Steamed Fish Belly For fish lovers, this dish is also great with rice. The fish belly pieces are all meat, with no bones. Simply steamed with scallions, garlic, and black beans, it's very flavorful. The best part is the fish meat with the skin, which is slightly gelatinous and chewy. Another bowl of rice cleared. Snow Swallow Egg White Stewed in Coconut Having dessert here was a pleasant surprise. You don't have to go to another place for dessert, so you can chat longer. The egg white stewed in coconut is thick, which I like. We were too full, so we only ordered one dessert, but it was good. Next time, we'll try more! If you're used to waiting in line for dinner in Mong Kok and dealing with time limits, this place offers a relaxed dining experience.
