A Stroll Through Traditional Alleys Outside the City: Ping Shan Heritage Trail

On my way back to Incheon from Phuket, I had a layover in Hong Kong with about six hours to spare, so I decided to step out for a brief excursion. Located near the MTR Tin Shui Wai Station, the Ping Shan Heritage Trail offers a completely different side of Hong Kong, far removed from the city's glitz and glamour. The trail features historic ancestral halls, old temples, and quiet village alleys lined up in a row. Simply walking along the path gives you a sense of immersion into history. With hardly any tourists around, the tranquil atmosphere and the authentic vibe of the local residents' lives left a lasting impression. It took about two and a half hours to explore the trail, including the round trip, and since there was no admission fee, it was a hassle-free and enjoyable walk. After a long journey, it was a precious moment to breathe in the serene air and gather my thoughts. On the way back, I took the Light Rail from Hang Mei Tsuen Station to Yuan Long, where I had a meal before heading to the airport.
