New Exhibits at the Hong Kong Palace Museum: Dragon Robe and Self-Ringing Clocks!

The Hong Kong Palace Museum has unveiled new exhibits: a fresh dragon robe and self-ringing clocks! The Palace Museum in Beijing has a system in place: garments and paintings are displayed for three months before being sent back to Beijing for two years of preservation and restoration. This helps minimize damage caused by light exposure and air humidity. This means that for permanent exhibitions in Galleries 1 and 2, some of the exhibits are regularly rotated. Visitors can expect to see new items at least four times a year! This time, Galleries 1 and 2 feature several rotated exhibits: ✴️ Emperor Qianlong's ceremonial robe with 12 symbolic patterns (worn during summer celebrations and festivals) ✴️ Emperor Qianlong's court robe with 12 symbolic patterns (used for official duties) ✴️ Multiple self-ringing clocks, some crafted by the Imperial Workshop and others imported from Britain ✴️ A British-made phonograph used by Emperor Puyi Gallery 4, which focuses on Qing Dynasty military exhibits, also showcases many new rotated items, making it worth another visit! 💰 Average cost per person: HK$70 (covers Galleries 1-7, excluding special exhibitions in Galleries 8-9)
