Cocoa Meets Coffee in Causeway Bay – My Visit to Ramie, Hong Kong

#hkonbudget Inspired by the team behind Sai Kung’s beloved Hush Hush café, Ramie landed in Causeway Bay in late 2024 as a jewel box of chocolate‑and‑coffee exploration. I popped in on a weekday afternoon and stayed about an hour—ample time to savour fine drink pairings in its mellow but chocolate-rich setting. ⸻ 🌿 Atmosphere & Vibe Ramie seats fewer than a dozen people in mismatched chairs—each seat feels like a design discovery. The café’s rustic charm is elevated by cocoa-toned interiors, minimal lighting, and personable service. It’s intimate, pet-friendly, and favoured by locals chasing signature drinks. Seating is limited, and on weekends you may wait. () ⸻ 🍫 What I Tried • Monte Carlo (coffee + chocolate): A perfectly balanced blend—smooth coffee meets dark chocolate syrup with the slightest bitterness edge. Rich without being heavy. • Hot Chocolate (Vietnam origin): One of three rotating single-origin hot chocolates on offer. A well-balanced, not-too-sweet cup with intense cocoa flavor. () • Chocolate Truffle Tart: Dense, fudgy, and luxurious—the perfect foil to strong drinks. Highly recommended by visitors. () ⸻ 🕒 Practical Info • Hours: Daily 9 AM–5 PM (best avoided at peak weekend times) • Location: G/F, Shop 11, Hoi Tao Court, 272 Gloucester Road, Causeway Bay • Atmosphere: Cozy, quiet, and chocolate-focussed—ideal for short lingering over drinks or savoring a dessert centerpiece. Space feels personal; not made for long stays. ⸻ ✨ Why It’s Worth Visiting • Chocolate-forward concept: Ramie stands out with rare chocolates and drinks like the Monte Carlo, which fuse cocoa and espresso artfully. • Single-origin chocolate options: The availability of rotating single-origin chocolate drinks (e.g. from Vietnam) gives Ramie a curated, refined edge. () • Pet-friendly and boutique feel: Limited seating amplifies intimacy; pet owners and cocoa lovers find it especially welcoming. • Minimal design with big taste: Rustic charm, mismatched stools, small footprint—yet each item tastes rich, thoughtful, and memorable. () ⸻ 💭 Final Thoughts Ramie isn’t your average café—it’s a chocolate atelier with a coffee twist. Whether you go for their Monte Carlo espresso-chocolate blend, Vietnamese hot chocolate, or a silky chocolate tart, everything feels intentional. Perfect for those days when you seek both sweetness and strength in smaller bites—just be ready to embrace the boutique, bite‑size experience.
