First Steps in Saudi Arabia - Explore Jeddah by the Red Sea

#DifferentWorld #WorldWandering #BornForTheDesert Travel Guide for Jeddah: Saudi Arabia's second largest city, located on the east coast of the Red Sea, is the gateway to the Islamic holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Since this trip was a spur-of-the-moment decision, I didn't make much preparation. I just wanted to take advantage of the May Day holiday to find a place I hadn't been to before. First, I didn't change money in advance. I used credit cards in Saudi Arabia, which was very convenient. Second, I didn't make a guide. I just booked Jeddah and Riyadh as destinations, and first settled the transportation and accommodation. Indoor transportation was mainly Uber and Careem, which was very convenient. Because Jeddah's overall public transportation is very backward. After all, the cost of driving there is much lower. The oil price is only half of that in China. Third, I chose the Sheraton Hotel next to the Red Sea for accommodation. I can really see the sea when I get up and open the curtains. I can also run and walk along the Corniche at night. I can see many local families coming out for a picnic together. For safety reasons, it is recommended to choose a better hotel, because there are very few Chinese in Jeddah, and many people mistake us for Japanese or Koreans. 4. If the arrival date is Friday, please be prepared that many places will not be open during the day or in the morning, because their weekends are Friday and Saturday. 5. Recommended attractions -Jeddah Old Town (Al-Balad): It is said to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has many coral buildings built in the 19th century, such as Nasif House and Matbouli House Museum. Stroll through the narrow streets and feel the time travel. Don't go on Friday, there are almost no people. -Jeddah Corniche: A 30-kilometer seaside promenade suitable for walking, cycling, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Red Sea and the iconic Jeddah Fountain (King Fahd's Fountain). -Al Tayebat International City: A museum complex that showcases Saudi history, culture and art. It is very similar to the architecture of the old city. -King Fahd's Fountain: *The world's tallest fountain, with a water column as high as 312 meters. It is very ordinary, and I don't feel much. - Jeddah Floating Mosque: A beautiful mosque built on the sea, the scenery is particularly spectacular at sunset. Even sitting quietly and listening to the sea breeze is very pleasant. 6. Food I think I have a Chinese stomach, and the Chinese food in Jeddah is worth praising, it is really good. I especially recommend Jixinyuan. 7. Precautions Respect Islamic customs, avoid drinking, smoking, and revealing clothes in public places, especially women. In Saudi Arabia, there is no courage to wear skirts, all are long clothes and long pants, and can also protect against the sun. The overall English penetration rate here is not as high as that in the UAE, and it is still very challenging to communicate in skirts. It is recommended to download translation software in advance.
