Jinghong City, Dajinta Temple

Jinghong City's Dajinta Temple, also known as the Burmese Dajinta, is the chief Buddhist temple of Jinghong City, overseeing 205 temples within the city. The Dajinta Temple, with a height of 66.6 meters, belongs to the Theravada Buddhism Vajrasana pagoda style, symbolizing the connection of one river through six countries, and is a symbol of the enduring friendship between China and the ASEAN countries. Construction of the grand Dajinta Temple in Jinghong began officially on November 16, 2009, and the topping out ceremony was successfully held on November 3, 2010. This tall structure has a very exotic charm, with classic Southeast Asian architectural style. In Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture's Jinghong City, 'Gaozhuang Xishuangjing' is a transliteration from the Dai language, meaning 'Nine Pagodas and Twelve Villages'. The Dajinta is the tallest building in the scenic area and a landmark of Xishuangbanna. The Dajinta adopts a quadrilateral structure, with the four smaller pagodas being solid and the main pagoda housing a Pali Canon museum, with two floors of usable space and four entrances from the east, west, south, and north. This pagoda is one of the nine pagodas of Gaozhuang Xishuangjing. It is understood that each side of the four sides faces a different direction, representing four countries. Moreover, each corner of the Dajinta has a mythical creature with a human face and an animal body as its mount. The Dajinta scenic area covers an area of five acres, consisting of the Buddhist pagoda, a Buddha's footprint stone created from the legend of Buddha's three visits to Banna, a wishing platform, and more. It is grand and tall, with exquisite design, reflecting the essence of Theravada Buddhist culture in Xishuangbanna and the Mekong River basin. The exterior of the Dajinta Temple is open to the public free of charge all day, and inside the temple, it is forbidden to expose shoulders, backs, thighs, or wear revealing clothing for photographs.
