The Malaysian Floating Mosque

The Sabah Mosque is located on the shore of Likas Bay and was built in 1997. It covers an area of one hectare and is a typical example of contemporary Islamic architecture. It is one of the most magnificent mosques in Malaysia at sunset. It is built on a man-made lake in Likas Bay, giving the impression of floating on the water, hence the nickname 'Floating Mosque'. The stunning white building blends perfectly with the blue sky. The Sabah Mosque covers an area of one hectare and can accommodate up to 12,000 worshippers.
