Lijiang, along with Kunming in Yunnan Province, is a historical place famous as a tourist destination for Chinese people. Lijiang Old Town is the starting point of the Tea Horse Road, and is a highland city at 2,400m above sea level! It is said to be the inspiration for the background in the movie Spirited Away :-) Lijiang is divided into Old Town, New Town, and Old Town, and during the great earthquake in 1996, one-third of Lijiang was destroyed, but Lijiang Old Town was not damaged and it was said that its 800-year history was preserved!
