Today was one of those rare days where everything just clicked — blue skies, crisp air, and a walk through Lyme, the historic estate near Disley in Cheshire, that left me feeling both refreshed and inspired. Spanning over 1,400 acres, Lyme is where grand heritage meets wild beauty. The Palladian-style house, once home to the Legh family, stands proudly against the backdrop of rolling hills and moorland. As I wandered through the lavish interiors — including the famous Long Gallery and the glorious Library — I could feel the echoes of centuries past. You might even recognize parts of it from Pride and Prejudice (yes, it was Pemberley in the 1995 BBC adaptation!). But what I loved most wasn’t just the house — it was the landscape. I spent the afternoon walking through ancient woodland and open moors, where red deer roam freely. Climbing up to The Cage, a former hunting lodge, rewarded me with breathtaking panoramic views stretching across Manchester to the Peak District. It was the perfect picnic spot. Best time to visit? Spring through early autumn is ideal, especially late April to June when the rhododendrons bloom and the deer are most active. But it’s beautiful year-round — misty walks in winter here are equally magical.
