Malacca is located in Malaysia on the Straits of Malacca. The city's history was deeply influenced by Zheng He’s voyages to the Western Ocean during the Ming Dynasty. It was successively colonized by Portugal, Holland, England and Japan. Thus, the architectural style here is very diverse. In 2008, Malacca and Penang together became World Heritage Sites. All of the shops and residences throughout the old quarter of the city have been subsequently restored to their former glory, thus making this historical city a living museum.

A Panoramic Journey Through the Old and New Melaka: A Timeless Adventure
📍Exploring the Historical Starting Point of Melaka—A Famosa
When visiting Melaka, A Famosa is a must-see historical landmark. Built in 1511 by Portuguese colonizers, it is one of the oldest European colonial structures in Southeast Asia. Walking among the ancient stone walls feels like traveling back in time to an era filled with adventure and conquest. Although most of the fortress was demolished in the 19th century, the Porta de Santiago gate still stands, bearing the marks of time and symbolizing the rich and diverse history of Melaka. Standing on the ruins of the fortress, you can feel the splendor of the maritime Silk Road during its heyday.
🔔The Serenity and Reflection of St. Paul's Church
Next, a walk from A Famosa to the top of St. Paul's Hill will bring you to the ruins of St. Paul's Church. Built by the Portuguese in 1521, the church is now a ruin but retains a silent solemnity and a sense of historical weight. Inside the church, several ancient tombstones tell the stories of Europeans who were once buried there, narrating the vicissitudes of that era. From St. Paul's Church, you can overlook the entire city of Melaka, with the distant Strait of Melaka in full view. It is not only a great vantage point but also a place for quiet contemplation of the intertwining of history and modernity.

Transitioning from ancient historical sites to modernity, Sky Tower is a new landmark in Melaka, adding a touch of modern flair to this historic city. The glass observation tower offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, especially breathtaking at sunset when Melaka is bathed in golden light. Standing on the transparent glass platform, you can overlook A Famosa, St. Paul's Church, and the distant Strait of Melaka. This blend of modern and historical perspectives is truly astonishing. Take a wall-mural canal cruise through the city of Melaka! The hand painted arts are incredibly done! Each building is painted in a different style or portrays a different message or theme. These buildings often are the locations of restaurants or coffee shops. The canal is situated next to China town that is a few minutes’ walk from the pier.
Afterwards, take a trip to the coast where you can see a unique sight of the seaside Mosque. White as snow during the day and beautifully lit up at night, it is a have-to-visit location!

My wonderful 3D2N Melaka Trip!
#malaysiatrip
My 3D2N trip to Melaka itinerary guide, Eat, See & Do in Melaka:
1. Discover Melaka’s Riverside Street Art and historical building. Walking by the riverbank in the morning or evening time, or else joins the river cruise. A memorable experience to soak in the history and quaint streets in Melaka!
2. Melaka has an interesting colonial history, you can still see some of the beautiful colonizers’ architectural remnants in the city, such as St. Paul’s Church by the Portuguese and the Red Square by Dutch, which includes the iconic red-painted Christ Church and Stadhuys. Not forgetting the fasinated Jonker Street!
3. The ethnic groups in Melaka compose of Chinese, Indians, Malays, and Peranakans (mixed ethnicities, usually of Chinese & Malay descent), plus Kristangs (mixed ethnicities of Portuguese & Indian/Malay descent). This diversity is clearly reflected in the Malaccan food scene, absolutely a food heaven for foodies!
Once you arrive in Melaka, almost everything can be done on foot as all the main landmarks are within walking distance of each other. For those sights that are further away (such as Melaka Straits Mosque or Portuguese Settlement), just jump on a trishaw for an authentic Malacca experience, cycle by bike, or take a Grab taxi.

Cute Little Crepe Cafe in Jonker Street
#foodies #vianasjourney #deliciousfood
🌟 My personal favourite crepe; tiramisu affair - As an Malaysian, a good dessert means it was not too sweet. They claimed it has bold flavours of cocoa and espresso but I do not think it was that ‘bold’ but could be because I had a strong coffee with mine.
🌟 As for coffee I chose my latte with palm sugar, I am a person interested in a little twist in my food/ drink. Coffee was strong which I like but probably a bit sweet for my taste. Should have mention to reduce the sweetness when I ordered earlier.
🌟 Cafe vibes; tropical garden vibes, decorated with wooden furniture. The area is small but few types of setting from medium group to smaller group. Wc is available at the back of the cafe.
🌟 Price wise; still reasonable for a cafe in a most visited street.
🌟 Melaka Marvels: Casa del Rio's Riverside Charm 🌟
Nestled on the banks of the historic Melaka river and a stone's throw from the vibrant Jonker Street, Casa del Rio Melaka offers a blend of classic luxury and prime location. 🏨✨
Imagine waking up in your suite, stepping onto your private balcony, and soaking in the serene river views. Casa del Rio isn't just about the view; it's a 5-star experience where every detail is perfected, from the warm ambiance to the top-notch amenities. 🛏️🌅
Feast like royalty with a breakfast spread that'll have you tipping your hat to the chefs! 🍳👌 And when you're ready to explore, a secret shortcut from the hotel bar will whisk you straight to the heart of Malacca's history on Jonker Street. 🗺️💡
Whether it's the impeccable service, the comforting feel of home, or the best night view in town, Casa del Rio checks all the boxes for a memorable stay. 🌃❤️
