Po Nagar Cham Towers

#MarchGoodPlaces2025 Po Nagar Cham Towers, also translated as the Temple of the Goddess Po Nagar, is dedicated to Po Nagar, a goddess who protects the southern part of the Champa Kingdom. She protects the fishermen who make their living from the sea and is equivalent to Mazu in the minds of Chinese fishermen. This tower was built between the 7th and 12th centuries AD. It is a representative building of Hinduism, with a slight style similar to Angkor Wat, but much smaller in scale. Currently, only five buildings of the main temple remain, and the carvings are not as detailed. However, it is said that as early as the 2nd century BC, Hindus worshipped the Hindu god Siva here. Nowadays, there are not only Vietnamese people who come here to worship, but also many local Chinese. Don’t forget to take off your shoes when you enter. Looking down from the Cham Towers on the hill, you can see the blue harbor of Nha Trang.
