#EuropeanTravel Flom is a city located at the inner end of the Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the Sognefjord. Flåm is an old name that was recorded as early as 1340. It comes from the Old Norse word ‘flá’, meaning flat and open land, and is related to the floodplain of the Flåm River. 131 cruise ships, including the RMS Queen Mary 2, arrive at the Flåm port every year. The road connecting Flåm and Finse is popular as a bike path, and the E16 road connecting Oslo and Bergen passes through Flåm.
