Wollaton Hall

Wollaton Hall is an English country house located in Wollaton Park, Nottingham, England, UK. The building now houses the Nottingham Museum of Natural History. Wollaton Hall was built between 1580 and 1588. When you come here, you can see the real-life version of Batman's Wayne Manor, explore interesting museums, and look for deer roaming in the vast and beautiful grounds. Wollaton Hall is a gorgeous hilltop estate surrounded by extensive fawn parkland. Built in the 16th century, this Elizabethan country cottage now houses the Nottingham Natural History Museum and the Nottingham Industrial Museum. After perusing the interesting exhibits inside, you can admire the deer in the picturesque grounds surrounding the mansion. Take a guided tour to learn about the history of this mansion, which was built in the 1580s. Guided tours take visitors through rooms dating from the Tudor, Regency and Victorian periods. The elegant furniture in the rooms and even the Tudor-era appliances in the kitchen are also worth seeing. If Wollaton Hall looks familiar to you, that’s because it’s been featured in movies – in 2012, it was used as the filming location for Wayne Manor in the film Batman: The Dark Knight Rises! Outside the estate, there are over 500 acres (202 hectares) of meadows, forests and trails, perfect for a picnic with the family. The environment here is quiet and the botanical garden is full of colorful plants that are available for purchase by visitors. This lovely garden is open on Sundays only during summer. The Nottingham Natural History Museum in the mansion exhibits a variety of animal specimens, as well as exhibition areas explaining insects, birds and minerals. The Nottingham Industrial Museum is located next to the cafe and displays steam engines and exhibits about the textile and transport industries. A timetable of events and concerts taking place in the hall is available online, while the 17th-century stables house a delightful café serving snacks and refreshments. The park and hall are open daily and there is no admission fee to either. There are several guided tours every day, which you can join for a fee. Nottingham Industrial Museum is open on weekends and bank holidays only. Wollaton Hall is located on the western outskirts of Nottingham, 3 miles (5 km) from the city centre; you can drive there following the brown road signs and park in the pay car park. There are also buses to the park from Nottingham city centre. Every Christmas there are Christmas lights that require tickets to enter.
