The Nujiang Lisu Ethnic Bathhouse Gathering

The Bathhouse Gathering, at the Denggeng hot spring group by the Nujiang River in Lushui Liuku County, takes place every year from the second to the seventh day of the Lunar New Year. Lisu ethnic brethren gather here for the Bathhouse Gathering, bringing their families, setting up tents, filled with laughter, singing and dancing. The tradition of men and women bathing together has been continued for more than 400 years, known as the "Sixteen Baths of the Gorge". The water temperature decreases from top to bottom, each pool has two gates, one for the hot spring water to enter, and one to drain to the Nujiang River, keeping the pool water clean.
