Temple No. 85, Ancient Site of Wat Chong Klom (Abandoned), Ayutthaya

Wat Jong Klom is located outside of Ayutthaya Island to the north. In the area of ​​the Thung Khwan field, the temple faces east. There is an octagonal pagoda as the main temple. In front of the main pagoda is a chapel. The ordination hall is on the north side. There is a wall and a moat around the temple. The Royal Chronicle of Sri Ayutthaya only states that Phra Thammasart Thera, the abbot of Wat Jong Klom, joined in presenting blessings to King Phetracha at Phra Thinang Banyong Rattanasan in the Grand Palace. From archaeological studies, it can be concluded that Wang Jong Klom was built in the early Ayutthaya period and was abandoned when Ayutthaya was lost for the second time.
