Rainbow Village

To the east of the village is Caiti Pass, an important pass leading out of Taihang Mountain and into Henan Province. It is recorded in the Records of Lu'an Prefecture during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty: "Lu Ban Ladder, also known as Caiti Pass, has a stone path leading to Lin County, Henan Province. The path is like a ladder to the clouds, and the locals say it was carved by Lu Ban." The ancient road is narrow and steep, and is an important trade route connecting the East and the West. Rainbow Village is a must-pass place on the Shanxi-Henan Ancient Road and an important merchant post. The village faces south and is divided into two parts, north and south, by the Rainbow River: the village on the north side is larger and mainly residential; the south side was originally a commercial area where the ancient road passed, with shops and businesses mixed with residential houses. Changhong Bridge spans the Rainbow River and is an important passage in and out of the village. The streets and lanes in the village are interconnected. Upper Street, Middle Street and Lower Street still maintain their traditional orientation and scale, and some sections still retain bluestone pavement. The main street in the northern area is the street connecting the Minghui Master Pagoda, Wudao Temple, and Guandi Temple. Other streets and alleys intersect with the main street, forming an overall grid shape. The southern area is dominated by Henan Street, with courtyards with shops in front and residences in the back scattered on both sides of the street. The village preserves a rich variety of historical and cultural relics, including dwellings, temples, stone pagodas and water mills. Most of the houses are two-story, and most of the buildings are made of local materials, with stone slabs for roofs and stone blocks for walls. The Guandi Temple is located in the eastern part of the northern area of ​​Rainbow Village. The existing main hall and side halls are relics from the Qing Dynasty.
