Among the many islands in Indonesia, Sumba Island is like a pearl forgotten by time, quietly exuding a unique tranquil charm. I spent a slow-paced and pleasant time here, and now I will take you on this dreamy slow trip. Arriving at Sumba Island feels like stepping into a paradise. My first stop was Laiya Beach. In the early morning, the sun gently sprinkled on the beach, the fine white sand shimmered, and the waves rhythmically lapped the shore, making a pleasant sound. I strolled along the beach, the sea breeze brushing my cheeks, bringing a hint of coolness. The distant sea level shimmered under the sunlight, and the horizon was a vast expanse of blue. Here, time seemed to slow down. I just sat quietly on the beach chair, watching the waves surge and feeling the gentle caress of the sea breeze, my heart filled with tranquility. In the afternoon, I walked into the traditional villages of Sumba Island. The scattered thatched houses were full of rustic charm. The local residents were warm and hospitable, their faces beaming with simple smiles. I visited their handicraft workshops and watched the artisans meticulously crafting wood carvings, woven goods, and other handicrafts, each detail imbued with their heart and soul. Here, I slowed down, carefully admired these handicrafts, felt the unique charm of traditional craftsmanship, and learned about the rich cultural heritage of Sumba Island. In the evening, I arrived at the highlands of Sumba Island. Standing high and looking down, the beautiful scenery of the entire island unfolded before my eyes. The afterglow of the setting sun dyed the sky orange-red, and the clouds seemed to be ignited, colorful and dazzling. The distant mountains and fields, bathed in the afterglow, were covered with a golden veil, dreamlike and illusory. I stood there quietly, immersed in this breathtaking scenery, my thoughts drifting with the afterglow. At night, the starry sky of Sumba Island was exceptionally bright. I lay on the open grassland, looking up at the stars. The stars twinkled like gems inlaid in the black curtain of the sky, and the Milky Way stretched across the horizon, mysterious and magnificent. The sound of insects chirping in my ears was like a lullaby played by nature. Under this brilliant starry sky, I felt the vastness of the universe and my own insignificance, and the worries in my heart dissipated. During my days on Sumba Island, I truly experienced the beauty of slow time. There was no rush, no noise, only the beautiful scenery of nature, the simple folk customs, and inner peace. Every moment here was worth savoring, and every scene was intoxicating. Sumba Island is like a haven of time, allowing me to forget the hustle and bustle of the world and find inner peace and balance. This slow travel experience will forever remain in my deepest memory, becoming the most precious treasure in my heart.
