Castle of the Count of Benavente

It was built in the 15th century and its most notable feature is the massive donjon, which offers stunning views. This square-shaped castle has been completely restored and is one of the best preserved in Spain. In addition to climbing to the top of the castle (also known as "El Macho"), visitors can also see the walls and visit various exhibition rooms. The interior is home to the fortifications' visitor center, which has four floors and contains interactive and audio-visual games about the history of the castle and town. The northern part of the wall also includes the Governor's Palace, which houses the Sanabria Ecomuseum, the Cabareda Ecomuseum, the Terra Valley Ecomuseum, the Villafafila Ecomuseum and the Montesinho Park.
