Pune, India, January 2025 In India at the moment and fortunate to have one of my appointments right next to 729 Coffee. Tucked away in Pune’s leafy Koregaon Park, this café beautifully blends modern coffee culture with a love for India’s rich coffee traditions. It’s been a busy couple of days, making it tricky to align work with my coffee hustle, but here I am! Named after the founders’ childhood home, 729 welcomes you with its cozy interiors, passionate baristas, and an array of South Indian coffees, paired with some seriously tasty treats. India holds a special place in my soul, and it’s so good to reconnect with South Indian beans, the heart of Indian coffee. With farms in Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu producing beans known for their nutty, chocolatey richness, today’s brews didn’t disappoint. While I missed out on wild Chikmagalur, I had the pleasure of sampling a single origin from Shevroy Hills, Tamil Nadu, a beautiful representation of this region’s coffee heritage.
