A Hidden Gem on the Costa Brava

Why You Should Visit Sant Feliu de Guíxols – and My Top Travel Tips If you're planning a trip to the Costa Brava and want to experience a charming seaside town without the huge tourist crowds, Sant Feliu de Guíxols is the perfect place. I recently visited and fell in love with its stunning beaches, delicious food, and relaxed Mediterranean vibe. Here are my top tips to make the most of your trip! 1. Pick the Right Beach for Your Mood Sant Feliu has beaches for every type of traveler. If you want a lively atmosphere with plenty of amenities, Platja de Sant Feliu is your best bet. The calm, shallow waters make it great for families, and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. For something more secluded, I highly recommend Cala Jonca or Cala del Vigatà. These small coves have crystal-clear waters and beautiful natural surroundings, perfect for snorkeling or just enjoying some peace and quiet. Be prepared for a bit of a walk to reach them, but trust me it’s worth it! 2. Walk the Camí de Ronda for Stunning Views If you love coastal walks, don’t miss the Camí de Ronda. This scenic hiking trail runs along the Costa Brava, offering breathtaking views of the sea. One of the best sections starts in Sant Feliu and leads to S'Agaró, where you’ll pass rugged cliffs, turquoise waters, and hidden coves. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and stop along the way to take in the views. 3. Eat Like a Local – Where to Find the Best Food Sant Feliu has some amazing restaurants, and you won’t have to break the bank to eat well. For the freshest seafood, head to Sa Marinada, their grilled fish and paella are incredible. If you want a traditional Catalan meal, Can Kiku is a great spot for dishes like suquet de peix (a flavorful fish stew). For something a little more modern, I recommend El Ginjoler, which serves creative Mediterranean dishes in a cozy setting. And don’t leave without trying cremat, a strong rum-based coffee drink that’s a local favorite! 4. Explore the Town’s History If you enjoy history and culture, take some time to visit the Benedictine Monastery. The Porta Ferrada, one of its most iconic features, dates back to the 10th century. During the summer, the monastery hosts the Porta Ferrada Festival, which brings live music, theater, and dance performances to town. 5. Plan Your Visit for the Best Experience Sant Feliu de Guíxols is beautiful year-round, but the best time to visit is late spring to early autumn. In July and August, the town gets busier, but it still feels more authentic compared to other Costa Brava hotspots. If you want a quieter experience, go in May, June, or September when the weather is still warm, but there are fewer tourists. Final Thoughts: Sant Feliu de Guíxols is the perfect mix of #relaxation , #adventure , and local culture. Whether you’re sunbathing on a quiet beach, enjoying fresh seafood, or hiking along the coast, you’ll find plenty to love. If you're looking for an authentic Costa Brava experience without the crowds of bigger tourist towns, this is the place to go. Enjoy your trip! #beachlife #spain
