Gyeongbokgung Palace Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
I Wish I Did This Instead
#koreatrip
It was our first time in Korea, and having our pictures taken around Gyeongbokgung Palace was on our bucket list.
There were many hanbok rental places near the palace, all offering similar prices with varying services. I chose Gigibebe Hanbok, opting for their special hanbok package with hairstyling.
The process was simple and straightforward, and the staff were friendly.
There's a toilet in the store, and I recommend using it before putting on the hanbok. Also, wear a skin-colored singlet and heat-tech tights underneath; I was freezing because the skirt was thinner and more exposed than I expected, especially in strong winds.
We ended up following a soon-to-be-married couple around during their photoshoot to find good spots for our own photos.
Unfortunately, unlike tourist spots in Japan, there are no photo stands available around the castle, making it challenging to get good photos together. The palace is quite large, and people are well spread out, so it was difficult to find someone who could take a decent photo for us.
What I would have done differently is to engage a personal photographer for a mini photoshoot. It'll costs about $80-100 per person, which is quite reasonable for quality memories.
Day and Night at Gyeongbokgung Palace.
Hello everyone.
Today, I'd like to share my experience visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace, which can be considered the heart of Seoul :)
📍 161, Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Gyeongbokgung Palace
⏰ 9:00~18:30
📌 Admission Fee: Adults 3,000 KRW (Ages 25~64)
By chance, I visited Gyeongbokgung Palace on a weekend and was able to see the 2024 Changing of the Royal Guard ceremony. The Royal Guard were the royal security guards during the Joseon Dynasty.
I had fallen in love with the impressive appearance of the Royal Guard on Instagram, and luckily, I got to see the event in person.
The 2024 Changing of the Royal Guard Ceremony is scheduled on weekends and public holidays from 15:00 to 16:00, so it might be a good idea to visit and watch the ceremony at least once.
2024 Changing of the Royal Guard Ceremony
⏰ March 23 (Sat) ~ December 29 (Sun) Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays 15:00~16:00
From Gwanghwamun Square in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace to the cultural street of Insa-dong (every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday)
Gyeongbokgung Palace is not only one of the most beautiful buildings in our country but also has many pretty and historically significant spaces in every corner, so it's a great place to spend a day exploring.
I highly recommend a trip to Gyeongbokgung Palace for anyone traveling to Seoul🩵
My Visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace
Visiting Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul was amazing! Got a hanbok for just 30,000 KRW for the dress, underpants, hairstyle and a purse. The changing of the guard ceremony was a colorful start, and the palace grounds were beautiful. Geunjeongjeon Hall and Gyeonghoeru Pavilion were stunning highlights. The contrast between the ancient structures and the modern city skyline was striking. A must-see in Seoul!

Hanbok: Gyeongbokgung Palace 🌸
Do you know that if you visit Gyeongbokgung Palace with a hanbok, the entrance is free? I booked mine along the street next to the palace and you will be spoilt for choices!
In Korea, the biggest palace is Gyeongbokgung palace and the place was huge. I think we spent at least 3.5 hours there. It has a fountain and lake area, with small cute pavilions and many palace sections, each main houses will be decorated with the usual furniture of the person staying in there.
There are so many cherry blossoms there so you will be in awe! Definitely a nice place to walk around and admire the architecture with cherry blossoms as it surrounding 🌸

N Seoul Tower Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
Seoul Stunning Namsan Tower 🌸
#cherryblossom2024
The Seoul Tower in Nanshan is a very old tourist attraction and also southern mountains in autumn are really beautiful! On both sides of the road are light pink cherry blossom 🌸 trees, which can exercise your body and enjoy your eyes, especially the combination of South Mountain Pagoda and cherry blossoms. The photos are amazing
The best viewing time for cherry blossoms is limited, usually only about a week. Everyone should seize the time to see the romantic cherry blossom
You can take a cable car or a bus 🚌 to Seoul Tower in Nanshan, but it is still recommended to walk up the mountain! During this season, there are beautiful scenery along the way from mountain to road, and any place is easy to take photos 📸
📍From Exit 3 of Mingdong Subway Station, there is Manga Street, with cute manga characters and graffiti along the way. Follow up to Nanshan, where there are many hiking trails for climbing

Viewing the night scene in Seoul, there are only 0 times and countless times
Several years ago, when I first came to Korea, I went to the Seoul Tower to see the night view. This time, I wanted to see the night view again, and after much thought, there was no better place than the N Seoul Tower.
🔺Route: Coming out of the Myeongdong subway station, follow the mural street uphill. After passing the Namsan pork cutlet street, you will see the Namsan Tower cable car station. Here, you can buy a round-trip ticket and then wait to board. The cable car can take you directly to a place close to the base of the tower.
⚠️If you simply want to see the night view, then this is enough, and there is no need to buy a ticket to go up the tower, because from here you can see the night view of Myeongdong and many parts of Seoul.
⚠️If it is your first time in Korea and you want to go up the tower, you can directly buy a ticket at the window under the Seoul Tower. Then, you will be given a number with many digits, which is the interval for your queue to go up the tower. The entrance will call out numbers.
The area on top of the Seoul Tower is not very large, and it also takes some time to queue up and down the stairs, so if you just want to see the night view, you actually don't need to buy a ticket; you can just watch from below.

Bukchon Hanok Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
Bukchon Hanok Village
Visiting the old village of Bukchon in Korea was a wonderful cultural experience. It featured narrow, tiled streets and beautiful traditional houses known as 'Hanok.' I enjoyed seeing many historical buildings, temples, and beautiful gardens. I had the chance to try on the traditional Korean dress 'Hanbok' and take souvenir photos. I also enjoyed tasting traditional Korean cuisine at a local restaurant and learned about Korean culture and traditions. Learning about the country's heritage and enjoying the historical ambiance and cultural authenticity was a fun experience. The old village of Bukchon is an ideal destination for those who love traditional culture and heritage.
The Most Beautiful Streets in Seoul 🇰🇷
Located very close to Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can find one of the most beautiful views of Seoul, South Korea. Bukchon HanoK Village feels like stepping back in time, with traditional Korea buildings and architecture.
📸 Many tourists visit this area to take photos of the incredible scenery or wearing traditional Korean clothes. You can rent these dresses nearby.
The streets in the village are quite steep and there are also many steps, so it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. It can also get very busy, so plan in advance what time you will go. Before 10am there are less crowds.
There is an opportunity to learn so much about the history and culture of the Hanok village, and Seoul itself. It was very interesting to explore the small streets and I highly recommend visiting here if you are in Seoul! 🇰🇷
