Special nighttime viewing of Deoksugung Palace: "Seojojeon at night"

#Travelingwithme Every year in May, during the "Golden Culture Festival" held at the five major palaces in Seoul, I participated in the "Night Seokjojeon" special viewing, which is different from the usual nighttime illumination, and includes a two-hour commentary and tea time. Unlike traditional palaces, the Western-style Seokjojeon can be visited during the day, but not during normal nighttime viewings, so it was a very rare opportunity. The dim orange light, reminiscent of the time when only gas lamps were used, is very seductive and creates a wonderful atmosphere. After the indoor tour, we had tea time on the terrace while listening to live classical music. Two types of desserts are included and you can choose from four types of drinks, but you must decide which drink you want when you reserve and purchase your ticket. Finally, we watched a musical in the hall. Deoksugung Palace was one of the important stages of Japan's colonial rule of Korea, so it tells the story of the suffering of the kings and queens of that era (who were the emperors of the Korean Empire at the time). It's something that Japanese people should learn, so it's also educational. The ticket price varies slightly depending on the exchange rate, but it is reasonable at just under 3,000 yen, and you can also get a souvenir. The commentary is only in English, but I was able to understand it.
