An old bank has been transformed into a museum, which is quite interesting. The Shenyang Financial Museum was established using the former site of the Border Industrial Bank, which was controlled by the Zhang family during the Republic of China period. The building was designed by a German architect. Zhang Zuolin and his son Zhang Xueliang, as the de facto rulers of the three northeastern provinces, not only hoped to dominate politically but also attempted to control the economic lifeline of the Northeast region. To achieve this, an important measure was the establishment of the Border Industrial Bank. In 1925, after the Border Industrial Bank, initiated by Zhang Zuolin, was officially established in Tianjin, construction of a new site began to the east of the Fengtian Zhang family's mansion. In 1930, the pistol-shaped Border Industrial Bank building was completed. The museum is located next to Zhang Xueliang's former residence and is open to the public with exhibitions divided into parts such as the history of financial development in the Northeast, the story of currency, a financial theme park, and exchange exhibitions. The exhibitions combine scientific nature, interest, and audience participation. The museum is the largest of its kind in China, with the richest content and the most diverse display forms and audience participation projects.
