🚌 Take the intercity bus from Qianhai Bay, Shenzhen, 18 yuan for a 1-hour direct ride through the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Corridor to Zhongshan Day 1️⃣ One-day tour of Xiaolan Town Xiaolan Folk Museum 👉 Kang Gongyu 👉 Sunflowers (📍 Xiaolan Dongsheng Panda Memorial Court) Day 2️⃣ Citywalk without looking back in the urban area Xiangshan Commercial and Cultural Museum 👉 Sunwen West Road Pedestrian Street 👉 Zhongshan Park 👉 Xishan Temple 👉 Zhongshan Museum 👉 Immaculate Conception Church (under construction, not open) Zhongshan is not a typical tourist city The sunflowers in Xiaolan are beautiful Kang Gongyu is small but quite exquisite The newly renovated Sunwen West Road is also great for photos But it does lack a bit of surprise I think the “sense of life” in Zhongshan might be the real rarity for Shenzhen drifters 🏨 Five-star hotels in Shenzhen easily cost over a thousand yuan, but here in the off-season you can stay at the Westin for just 300+ 🐦 Also, the roadside braised pigeon I found tastes even better than Xinrongji 🌳 The highlight is the century-old tree at the entrance of Xishan Temple. Temples are always well-sited, maybe with some special magnetic field. Sitting quietly under the tree for half an hour, just watching the light and shadow move and feeling the breeze on your face. The anxiety and tension from work quietly ease away. This is the real magic of the recently popular “20-minute park effect.” 🔋 Zhongshan is not suitable for tourism, but perfect for relaxing. Stay in a nice hotel, sleep until late, find an old tree, and daydream with peace of mind. It’s perfect for Shenzhen drifters to recharge themselves.
