Hokkaido is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan for Hong Kong people. Located at the northernmost tip of Japan, Hokkaido has always been very beautiful in all four seasons. It is covered with snow in winter, and the scenery and climate are even more pleasant in summer. Among them, TOMAMU, a famous ski resort in Hokkaido, attracts ski enthusiasts from all over the world with its fine powder snow every winter. The "Hoshino TOMAMU Resort" under the Hoshinoya Group is always hard to book every winter. This time I had a rare opportunity to go there for accommodation and research, which gave me the opportunity to see this spectacular sea of ​​clouds. The second hotel we stayed at during our family trip to Hokkaido was Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU. There are two hotels in the resort. The one closer to the exit is "THE TOWER", and the other is "RISONARE TOMAMU" which is located deeper in the resort and on a higher ground. The rooms at "THE TOWER" are mainly two- to three-person rooms, while the rooms at "RISONARE TOMAMU" are mainly suites, which are more suitable for family travelers. This time, there are five of us in total with my family, four adults and one child. The hotel arranged for me to stay in a designed five-person suite, which was converted from a four-person suite with an area of ​​120m². As soon as I entered the room, I was amazed by how spacious it was. Since the park is quite large and it snows in winter, the resort has a connecting tunnel to facilitate tourists to travel between restaurants and public areas for dining. In addition, tourists can also use the free shuttle bus to move between facilities in the park, which is quite convenient. Hoshinoya TOMAMU Resort also has different themed activities in each season. This time I went there in winter, so of course I had to experience the various snow activities and recreational facilities located in the resort. Those who like skiing must visit the ski resort here. The ski resort covers an area of ​​255 hectares and the snow quality is the highest in Hokkaido. It is one of the largest ski resorts in Japan. KUMO Cafe KUMO Cafe in the Fog Ice Terrace has a variety of seasonal drinks and original food while enjoying the magnificent view. I ordered four cloud-themed desserts that are limited to winter. All four are very cute and match the mountain scenery very well. It’s a great way to check in! Snow Mountain Walk There is a 200-meter-long snow mountain walk called "Cloud Walk" on the foggy platform. It feels like walking on the clouds. While walking, you can also enjoy the winter scenery of Tomamu Snow Mountain. The scenery is very spectacular. "GAO Outdoor Center" In addition to skiing, the resort also provides many snow experience activities, including snowmobiles, snow banana boats, snow horseback riding, ice fishing, etc. Even people who don't know how to ski can enjoy snow activities here. This time, my family and I experienced "snowmobile" and "snow rafting". I personally don't have a driver's license, so I was a little worried before playing "snowmobile". Will I be able to complete it successfully? After playing it, I realized that it was nothing to worry about. As long as I followed the instructor's instructions and operations, I could operate it easily. It was really fun. The "snow rafting" was also very fun and exciting. The instructor also stopped at some shooting locations along the way for us to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the "Hoshino TOMAMU Resort". "Snow Kart" Due to time constraints, I did not experience skiing this time. However, the hotel specially arranged for my family and I to participate in the "Snow Kart" so that we could fully experience the winter snow experience at the "Hoshino TOMAMU Resort". The snow kart runs from the top of Yunhai Cable Car Mountain, through a 4,200-meter-long snow track, to the Resort Center at the foot of the mountain. This is the longest snow karting event in Japan. Of course, when you come to Hokkaido in winter, you can’t miss taking a hot spring bath. There is a hot spring called "Kirin no Yu" here, right next to Smile Beach. It is an open-air bath with a sense of openness where you can enjoy the snowy scenery during the day and the starry sky at night in a dreamy atmosphere. This time, you can also experience the fantasy ice city "Ice Ice City" that only appears on winter nights. The temperature here was only minus 20 degrees Celsius that night. There are facilities such as the "Mist Ice Platform" that covers an entire vast ski resort with a silver-white snow curtain. I also tried the unique "ice ramen" here that day. It was really a different feeling to eat "ice ramen" in ice at more than minus 10 degrees Celsius. What also touched me was that "Ice Ice City" would set off fireworks at 18:30 and 19:30 in the evening, each time lasting about 5 to 10 minutes. I can only say that this fireworks display is one of the most touching I have ever seen in my life. The release of the fireworks brought this beautiful night to a perfect end. In addition to the abundant winter activities, the food and restaurants at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU are also excellent. During the two nights of our stay, we went to the "Forest Restaurant" and "Buffet Dining hal" to enjoy buffet meals. 「Forest Restaurant」 is a buffet restaurant in the open forest. The theme of the dinner is "Meat Buffet", where you can enjoy a variety of meat dishes representative of Hokkaido. The latter dinner is themed "Crab x Salmon", starting with dishes that make use of its characteristics, and then to various dishes using seasonal ingredients. For breakfast, the hotel arranged for us to go to GRILLED AGI, which is on the 32nd floor of RISONARE TOMAM SOUTH (South Building) and has a very beautiful view. GRILLED AGI's style is calm and low-key, with a touch of Western Showa style, giving people a gorgeous and majestic atmosphere. Here you can enjoy breakfast while looking at the beautiful scenery. This restaurant is a high-end seafood steak teppanyaki restaurant at night. We also had lunch at Firefly Street, a ski-in/ski-out restaurant district. At the CAMARO STEAK DINER restaurant, we ordered the Hokkaido black-haired Wagyu beef "Shirao Gyu". The meat was so sweet that it was unforgettable. The three-day and two-night stay at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU gave me and my family a very pleasant and wonderful time. It also allows the family to experience Hokkaido's unique winter and enter a snowy winter world.
