Must-Visit Angkor Thom with Stunning Strangler Fig Trees!

Angkor Thom (Ta Prohm) is an awe-inspiring ancient ruin where enormous strangler fig trees seem to engulf the structures. This site is often included in most tours of the Angkor Wat ruins, and if you charter a tuk-tuk, the driver will almost certainly recommend it. The sight of the roots of the strangler fig trees, resembling giant octopus tentacles, intertwined with the ruins is truly stunning. As the trees continue to grow, the buildings appear to be deteriorating more and more compared to my first visit eight years ago. If you're interested, I recommend visiting sooner rather than later! This site has both an East Gate and a West Gate, but you can no longer pass through the ruins from one side to the other. The atmosphere differs depending on which gate you enter from, so if you have time, it's worth walking around the outside of the ruins to the opposite side or entering from both gates to fully experience the site.
