The Northern Lights (Norway)

The Northern Lights, or Aurora, is a natural phenomenon where lights glow in the night sky, usually occurring in polar regions. Sometimes referred to as the Northern Lights or Southern Lights depending on their origin, auroras are one of the most fascinating physical phenomena occurring in near-Earth space. They can appear as faint, stationary rings that suddenly burst into various colors, spreading within seconds. Sometimes they seem to touch the ground, while at other times they shoot high into the sky. In reality, auroras occur at high altitudes above the Earth's surface.
