An Alternative Travel Guide to the U.S. by Train

A total of $747 + $946 + $1080. If only one person books a single room, the ticket price should be reduced by $200 based on this price. An Amtrak employee told me that this fare usually fluctuates. It's cheaper to buy either very early or very last minute. For example, for the Chicago-LA trip, I saw an $800+ fare at first but missed it. After waiting for two days, I found that it was only $1,080. Because I had to come back, I bought the $1,080 ticket. - 🚄Room: The roomette we booked is relatively small, with two chairs and a bed above. You can ring the bell for the attendant to help make the bed at night, or you can do it yourself, it's very simple. But you need to share the bathroom and shower room with others. Fortunately, when we traveled, it might not have been peak season, and there weren't many people on the train. Basically, there were no queues for the bathroom and shower room. And basically, the whole carriage was very quiet. - ⛰️Review: We completed this journey in late February and early March. Overall, I think Coast Starlight > Southwest Chief > Empire Builder. On the Coast Starlight, you can see the sea, mountains, snow, and forests. The service attitude is also the best and most enthusiastic of the three sections. The downside is that there are many people. The observation car was almost always full every time we went. The Empire Builder runs along Canada. I think if the travel time were changed to July or August, it would definitely be very beautiful. In spring and winter, it's mostly cloudy and snowing. But friends who like snow scenes can go for it.
