Kashgar Travel Guide and Expenses (Part 1)

When you visit Xinjiang, not visiting Kashgar is like not coming at all. Today, I will record my three-day itinerary in Kashgar for family members to use as a reference. Any shortcomings are welcome to be supplemented by everyone. These three days are mainly day trips, combined with evening strolls in the ancient city. On the first day, I checked in at the westernmost point of the country. The route was a one-day tour of the westernmost monument of China, which can be found directly on the app. In the morning, I took a bus at People's Square. This is a great point about Xinjiang; it is two hours later than inland areas, meaning that gatherings here start after 9 a.m., so there is no need to worry about getting up early. The first stop was the Colorful Mountain, which is an extension of the Tianshan Mountains. The mountains here are all red. It is more like roadside scenery than a tourist spot. There is a big rock you can climb up to take pictures and stretch your legs. The second stop was Shell Mountain, which has a large stone monument. There are many shell fossils on the mountain. Spending some time here collecting shells will give you a direct sense of the phrase 'the vicissitudes of life.' The third stop was the Tianshan-Kunlun Mountain junction. There is a viewing platform here where you can see the junction of the two mountains: the red Tianshan Mountains and the black Kunlun Mountains. The fourth stop was the Westernmost Monument. There are many types of the country's four extremes: some are based on national borders, some on land, and some on landmarks. The national borders are hard to reach, so the four extremes of China were determined based on land, which are the four farthest places ordinary people can reach: the easternmost point at Dongji Square in Fuyuan City, the northernmost point at Beiji Square in Beiji Village, Mohe City, the westernmost point at Simuhana Village in Wuqia County, Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture, and the southernmost point at Jiaowei Township, Xuwen County, Zhanjiang City. This stop is the westernmost point of China, marked by a symbolic stone monument. Standing on the square, you can see the distant snow-capped mountains at the western border of the country. The fifth stop was the Irkeshtam Pass, which is the border between China and Kyrgyzstan. However, there is now a Belt and Road railway, and when I went, there were very few trucks, so I just checked in and recorded it. The sixth stop was Simuhana, the first village at the westernmost point of China, to pay tribute to the unsung heroes who silently guard the border. After that, we returned because it was very far from Kashgar. We took the bus all the way back, arriving in Kashgar at 11:30 p.m. I went back to the hotel to wash up and sleep because there was another day trip the next day. Finally, some notes: you need a border pass for the trip, but the travel agency will handle it directly, so don't worry. This area is very desolate and windy, so pay attention to sun protection and bring a jacket. The toilet at the Westernmost Monument charges 1 yuan. The journey is long, so bring some snacks. For accommodation, you can choose to stay in the ancient city, which is very close and lively.
