The Walls of Villajoyosa are a complex of defensive walls built in the 16th century

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Alicante (Region) While visiting the town, we saw these walls on our way to the beach area. They are part of the city's defensive complex and date back to the 16th century. They are located around the old town, and what we were able to visit were some of the restored city walls and towers, which are still carefully maintained today, some of the city walls have become part of the houses but have been kept as beautiful as possible, while most of them have been demolished and lost. The construction of the city walls took place between 1551 and 1565. Previously the city's defences had been undefended since at least 1525. #JanuaryDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Valencia
