The Church of San Esteban is one of the most important churches in Zamora and is built in a style known as Late or High Romanesque.

Spain Westward ~ Zamora (Region) This is the largest and most extensive church in the city after the Cathedral. Built in the 11th century on the site of the old Church of St. Leocadia, the building has been continuously expanded and renovated, bringing together a variety of architectural styles. The church originally had three naves, but was enlarged and remodeled in the late 15th century, leaving only one nave, topped by a slender pointed vault. In the early 18th century, Joaquín Churriguera remodeled the tower and built the west entrance.
