Be sure to see the Crane (Żuraw)—a 14th-century Gothic port crane. Don't miss a boat ride: you can rent a motorboat without a special license—the views of the Motława River and the historical buildings are well worth it. 🌊 Sopot: Resort charm Sopot is all about beaches and the famous 511-meter-long wooden pier (Molo): it offers stunning views, and with binoculars, you can spot Westerplatte and the Hel Peninsula. The city's calling card is the "Crooked House" (Krzywy Domek): one of the most photographed buildings in the region. I started at Sopot Molo (Europe's longest wooden pier, free to walk, 515 m out into the Baltic) at 7:30 am, paid nothing to enter, and watched the sea fog lift over the Gulf of Gdańsk. Then I took the SKM train from Sopot to Gdynia Orłowo (PLN 4–6 one way, tap card or buy at machine, 12 min), and walked the Kępa Redłowska nature reserve cliff path north of Orłowo pier—free, no ticket, wooden stairs down to a quiet beach with fishing boats pulled up on the shingle.The cliff is ~20 m high, forested with beech, and the wooden Orłowo pier (free) juts 130 m out. I made the mistake of trying to walk Sopot→Orłowo along the beach (it's 8 km of soft sand and groynes—exhausting). Train one way, walk the cliff, train back. Gdynia proper has a tram (line 21) from Orłowo to the city center for PLN 3.40, but the cliff reserve is the payoff, not the tram. Food: Sopot's Monte Cassino street has €6 zapiekanka; Orłowo cliff café charges €4 for a coffee with the view. Rule: no alcohol on Polish beaches, enforced with fines. Worth it? Yes—Sopot pier is touristy but the Orłowo cliff is the anti-Copacabana, quiet and forested, and the whole loop costs under PLN 15 transport. Hey everyone! I recently spent a few days on a getaway in Gdańsk, Northern Poland, and I wanted to share my experience here. You know I'm obsessed with traveling to places that look like they're straight out of a movie, and visually, this place checked all the boxes. The old town looks like a medieval movie set—perfectly preserved with an incredible Hanseatic vibe. But, to be totally honest and transparent: it’s a one-and-done destination. I had a blast, but I wouldn't go back. Here are my thoughts and some tips in case you're thinking about going. ✨ What’s actually worth it: Visually, the city is breathtaking. The contrast of the colorful houses, the stroll along the Motława River at sunset, and St. Mary’s Church (the climb to the top is exhausting, but the views of the red roofs are worth it). Plus, for those of us living in Barcelona, Polish prices are a huge relief for the wallet; eating out is incredibly cheap. I also checked out nearby Sopot, and their massive wooden pier is super nice for a walk and some downtime. ❌ Reasons I wouldn't go back (and things to keep in mind): 1. You can see it all in a morning: The historic center is tiny. In about 3 or 4 hours, you’ve walked through all the key spots (Long Street, the Golden Gate, the river...). If you stay more than two days, you’ll be bored to tears because there isn't much else to do, nor are there many hiking trails or different activities. 2. The Baltic Sea is freezing: I went in the summer and, as a sea lover, I tried to dip my feet in at Sopot beach... big mistake! The water is ice-cold, even in July. Forget about a pleasant swim; it’s more for walking on the sand. 3. Watch out for tourist traps: On the main street downtown, restaurants are pricey and the food is pretty mediocre. If you want real, delicious, and cheap Polish food, look for the "Bar Mleczny" (traditional milk bars) in the side alleys. And watch out for the amber shops in the center; they hike up the prices like crazy for foreigners. 4. Transport and language: The tram and train ticket machines are sometimes only in Polish, and figuring out the zones is a total mess. My recommendation is to use Bolt or Uber to get between cities in the area—it saves you the headache and they are very cheap. 5. The vibe is a bit cold: Not to generalize, but compared to the atmosphere we have here in Spain, the locals are quite serious and reserved. It’s a bit hard to communicate if you need help. In short: Gdańsk is a beautiful destination for a quick weekend getaway (2 days is the perfect amount of time). You’ll get incredible photos, enjoy a very cool aesthetic, and it’s budget-friendly. #europetrip Lots of hiking on the beautiful Gdynia Cliff today. Good weather and a great view of the bay of Gdansk. It looks amazing. A place worth visiting for all tourists!! Short hike to this cliff for about 20 mins gives you a rewarding experience with picturesque hill top view of sea. At peak of the cliff there is a point where we get scenic view of beach, pier. Great place to capture some superb pics. It's definitely ba must try thing when in this place. We can go further downwards from the peak as well.

His paintings often concerned the sea, from the perspective of Kamienna Gora and Kepa Oksywska. A bench dedicated to the memory of Antoni Suchanek, an outstanding painter from Ortowo, fascinated with maritime themes, is located in the square named after him. It stands near the Ortowo pier, in a place where he liked to paint. The author of the sculpture is Zdzistaw Koseda.

#europetrip Nice pier at a place where less tourist comes by. Compared to Sopot pier, it really small but the view of the cliff covered with trees is really incredible and picturesque. There is no ticket for entry of the pier in summers like in Sopot, it's for free. If come here early morning very less people would be there and we can enjoy more during summer holidays compared to other popular beaches like in Sopot. Sopot is just 2 stops from here in SKM train, we need to walk around 15 mins to reach SKM station from this place.

I finally managed to carve out about ten days to explore Poland. A little piece of genuine advice: skip the group tours and the buses. This is a country best experienced at your own pace, traveling by train. The PKP trains are incredibly comfortable, punctual, and dirt cheap. I stopped in Warsaw, Krakow, and Gdansk. The September weather was gorgeous, with that warm, golden light typical of early fall that makes everything feel a bit magical. In Warsaw, I absolutely loved strolling through Łazienki Park and chilling on the grass while listening to a Chopin concert. But my absolute favorite spot turned out to be the Kazimierz district in Krakow: it's packed with little vintage cafes, murals, and a laid-back vibe that I just adore. I also visited Auschwitz... an emotionally heavy day, a silence that chills you to the bone. If you go, don't plan any other activities for that day; you need time to process everything. When it comes to the food, I was pleasantly surprised. As a true Bolognese, I'm pretty picky, but their pierogi (traditional dumplings, both savory and sweet ones stuffed with blueberries) are fantastic and cost next to nothing. One last practical tip: pack light. The streets in the historic centers are entirely made of stone, and the cobblestones are an absolute nightmare for large suitcases. Just grab a backpack and you're good to go, ready to hit the pavement.

The "Blyskawica" Museum-ship is a real zero-class monument - it is the oldest preserved destroyer - a World War II veteran and the only Allied combat ship that actively participated in operations throughout the war - from September 1, 1939 to May 8, 1945. The "Błyskawica" museum ship still carries the white and red war flag. It remains in the composition of the 3rd Fleet of Ships of the Polish Navy and has a full-time sailor crew. It documents the traditions of Polish seamen's fights, is a place of representative meetings and state ceremonies, including ceremonial promotions of Navy officers, a mainstay of the eternal maritime ceremony, and at the same time a well-maintained monument of world-class naval technology. A visit to Błyskawica allows you to get acquainted with the ship's deck equipment from the stern to the bow - take a look at the ship's artillery, depth charge throwers and launchers, and torpedoes.
