A trip through Spain's Central Highlands ~ La Rioja (Region) This church, likely built in the 10th century in Baroque style, was consecrated as a cathedral in 1952, the 400th anniversary of the founding of the Cofradía de la Vega. For just 1 euro, you can visit the magnificent altarpiece, the sacristy, and its well-preserved furniture. The organ is magnificent and in working order, and the pews supporting it speak volumes about its weight. Exploring the Spanish Central Plateau ~ La Rioja (Region) In the 15th century, it was used as a prison. In the following century, the council decided to transfer it to Dr. Rabanera for private use, and it remained privately owned until the 20th century. Using the tower as a residence facilitated its transformation, expanding its space and connecting it to an adjacent building, which preserved a Baroque-style door. By 1559, its condition must not have been ideal, as the town council handed it over to Dr. Cristobal de Rabanera-Tejada with the obligation to repair it and construct a passage connecting the tower to their house. It is the only remaining tower of the Haro city walls, defending the San Bernardo Gate. The tower is a five-story square structure (ground floor and four upper floors), with its southern façade built using ashlar stones and sandstone blocks at each corner. Since the 16th century, it has undergone modifications, altering its original appearance. During the most recent restoration, the roof was also renovated, adding a new glass structure along the structural lines. The interior, previously in a state of ruin, has been restored and now houses the La Rioja Contemporary Museum.

The church was built on its original site under the protection of the High Constables of Castile. Construction began in the 16th century, initiated by Juan de Rasines, and was later continued by Pedro de Rasines and his son Rodrigo. It was finally completed in the 17th century by Pedro de Origoitia and Andrés de Venea. The church features three naves with star-shaped ribbed vaults supported by columns. The main entrance is designed as a retablo (altarpiece), adorned with depictions of the Crucifixion of Jesus and portraits of the apostles.
