Leaving Bayinbuluke, I stumbled upon a delightful scene—a large flock of fluffy lambs gathering by the riverside for a drink. Watching them splash around and quietly sip from the water was one of those simple travel moments that instantly melts your heart. Yet, alongside this beautiful landscape was a sobering sight. Too much litter had accumulated along the riverbanks, and plastic waste had found its way into the grazing areas. It's heartbreaking to think that these curious little lambs could accidentally ingest plastic while feeding or drinking. The beauty of nature deserves our admiration, but it also needs our care. Every piece of rubbish removed—and every piece never left behind—helps protect the fragile ecosystems that make places like this so unforgettable. 📍 Location: Near Bayinbuluke, Xinjiang, China 🇨🇳 🐑 Highlight: A charming encounter with a flock of lambs in the vast grasslands ✨ Feature: Peaceful riverside scenery, grazing sheep, endless prairie landscapes, and authentic pastoral life 🍃 Atmosphere: Heartwarming, tranquil, yet thought-provoking 📸 Best for: Wildlife encounters, grassland photography, and slow travel moments 💡 Travel Tip: Leave no trace during your visit and help keep the grasslands clean—for the wildlife, the environment, and future travellers. ✨ Signature feeling: The sight of playful lambs by the river is unforgettable, but protecting the landscapes they call home is the greatest gift we can leave behind. 💚🐑🌿

The Tianshan Flower Sea in June is simply breathtaking. The Tianshan Mountains stretch for 2,500 kilometers, with the majority lying within Xinjiang. Running right across the region, the mountain range divides Xinjiang into the North and the South. In June, the mountains and plains of Tianshan are blanketed in blooming flowers. Beyond the vast, meticulously cultivated lavender fields within the "Tianshan Flower Sea" scenic area, nature itself is incredibly generous—diverse wildflowers can be spotted everywhere. Splashes of yellow, blue, pink, and white blend beautifully with the lush green grasslands of early summer. Standing amidst it all feels just like stepping into a brilliantly colorful painting. Scattered across this sea of flowers are numerous campsites. Today's campgrounds are far from being barren plots of land; they are fully equipped and often marketed as "glamping" (glamorous camping) destinations. Besides comfortable lodging, they offer restaurants, activity centers, and everything else you might need. Recently, RVs (recreational vehicles) have become increasingly popular for long-haul travel in China. Equipped with dining areas, beds, kitchens, and bathrooms, they are incredibly convenient. RVs are particularly ideal for road trips in Xinjiang. Even though the distances between scenic spots are vast, an RV allows you to be completely self-sufficient. You can stop and go as you please without ever having to hunt for public restrooms. Some RV rental companies even provide private drivers and route-planning services. Essentially, an RV serves as a cozy, private tour group—a truly delightful way to travel. During our journey, we came across a convoy of RVs weaving playfully through the winding mountain roads, with drones trailing behind to capture their adventure. It painted a picture-perfect scene of a picturesque countryside getaway. It couldn't help but make me wonder: when I return to Xinjiang next time, shouldn't I give an RV road trip a try?

#bucketlistdestinations ✅ 🐎 Okay, real talk — I had Bayinbuluke on my bucket list for THREE YEARS. Everyone kept saying "just go to Yunnan instead" or "it's too remote, too cold, too much hassle." And I almost listened. Almost. Thank God I didn't. This place broke me in the best way possible. I flew into Urumqi, then drove — and I mean DRIVE — for about seven hours through the Tianshan Mountains. My bones were aching, my butt was numb, and I was questioning every life choice. Then the road curved, the valley opened up, and I saw it: endless golden grassland stretching toward snow-capped peaks under a sky so blue it looked fake. I literally pulled over and just stared. No photo could do it justice. We stayed in a tiny guesthouse in the town — nothing fancy, just warm beds and a host family who fed us hand-pulled noodles and salted milk tea that I now think about weekly. The next morning, I rode a horse into the grasslands with a local Kazakh herder named Aitieke. No tour group, no schedule. Just us, the wind, and thousands of sheep. He pointed at the famous Nine Bends of the Swan River and said, "Wait for sunset." I waited. And when the sun dropped low and painted the river in nine separate golden curves of light... I cried. Like, ugly cried. Standing alone in a field in western China with nobody watching. That's a bucket list moment — not because it's famous, but because it HITS you somewhere deep. Bayinbuluke taught me that the best destinations aren't always the easiest to reach. Sometimes the drive IS the story. So tell me — what's a bucket list spot you almost skipped because of the logistics, but ended up being unforgettable?I know you have one. Spill. 👇🌄

This land embraced by the Tianshan Mountains gathers together grasslands, flower seas, lakes, snow-capped mountains, canyons, villages, and ancient paths, showcasing countless scenic wonders. Over twelve days, instead of rushing through, you delve into every secret spot, chasing the wind, welcoming the light, and fully immersing yourself in pure nature. Travel through Sayram Lake, where sapphire-like waters nestle against snowy peaks, the lakeside grass is lush, wildflowers bloom everywhere, and the breeze ripples the lake’s surface. Standing by the lake, even your breath feels gentle. Check in at Guozigou, where forests, canyons, bridges, and snowy mountains frame every scene, step by step, creating a natural gallery. Ride along the Yizhao Highway, traveling above the clouds, crossing the continuous Tianshan Mountains. On one side, cliffs rise steeply; on the other, grasslands stretch wide, with wildflowers blooming all over. Within a single day, you can experience a thousand changing landscapes. Stroll through various grasslands to unlock different shades of green. Nalati’s aerial grassland features rolling clouds and grass, with scattered cattle and sheep; Kalajun’s human-shaped grassland lines are soft, vast, and lively; Tangbulak’s hundred-mile gallery is accompanied by streams and dotted with yurts, everywhere filled with the original poetic charm of the mountains and fields. Step into Kazanqi and Liuxing Street to feel the local life in Yining. The blue fairy-tale town is full of exotic atmosphere, horse-drawn carriages roam the streets, and every snapshot looks like a fairy tale scene. Visit Huocheng’s lavender sea, where purple waves roll with the wind, and the air is filled with sweet floral fragrance, creating an ultimate romantic experience. Wander through Qiaxi and Kuerdening, where forests and grasslands intertwine in layers of green, a hidden paradise deep in the mountains. This twelve-day journey takes you from lakesides to flower seas, from grasslands to deep mountains, from natural scenery to cultural streets. In Ili, time seems to slow down. Like and save this, and check it again before you set off~🚗 1️⃣ Hongshan Stone Forest|A Western Movie Scene with Trains Passing Through Navigate to “Kuqa Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon,” drive about 15 minutes forward, see the train bridge tunnel, then take the dirt road on the right 🕒 Best time: 4-6 PM, the light and shadows on the red rocks are stunning 👗 Outfit: Cowboy hat + brown leather jacket or white dress, super cool ⚠️ Train passing times depend on luck, but even without a train, the stone forest itself is breathtaking. Bring a telephoto lens or use your phone’s zoom. 2️⃣ Yanshuigou|The Yardang Secret Realm of the Ancient Silk Road Search for “Yanshuigou Toll Station,” don’t enter the station, take the left fork to drive in 🕒 All day is fine, cloudy days add an apocalyptic vibe 👗 Pure black or pure white long dress + sunglasses, if no drone, climb a small dirt hill by the roadside for wide-angle shots ⚠️ Some gravel roads, no problem for SUVs, sedans can pass slowly. During sunset, the sunlight reflects multiple sun images on the river's surface, and legend has it that the lucky ones may witness nine suns simultaneously mirrored on the water. This location also served as a filming site for the Tianlong Temple in the TV series "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils." The grassland is home to swans and dozens of other rare bird species. In the early morning, the mist blends seamlessly with the river and grassland, creating a dreamlike and ethereal scene. Transportation Tips 1. We always think that only the midsummer in Xinjiang is worth traveling for, until we meet Yili in May—snow-capped mountains still unmelted, grasslands just turning green, wildflowers beginning to bloom. Within the 45°C spring temperature difference lies the magical “Four Seasons in One Mountain.” Here, there are no crowded tourists, only the whisper of the wind sweeping through the Kalajun meadows, the tranquility of Sayram Lake reflected by the snowy mountains, and the smoke rising from Kazakh herders moving their camps. This is what travel should truly feel like❄️ 🌸 The Ultimate Reason to Travel Off-Peak · Fewer people, beautiful scenery: Avoid the May Day holiday; visitors drop by 70% in mid to late May, allowing you to enjoy the “private grasslands” · Precise blooming period: Kalajun wild lilies, Nalati globeflowers, and Kuerdening wild apple blossoms bloom in succession, every photo on your phone is a screensaver-worthy sea of flowers · Best value for money: Airfare drops to one-third of peak season prices, and car rental costs only about 300 RMB per day to unlock the secret spots of Northern Xinjiang 🗺️ Must-Visit Attractions | Capture Spring in Your Lens 1. Sayram Lake (Entrance fee 70 RMB) · Hidden experience: Navigate to “Xihai Grassland,” where wild lilies dance with swans by the lakeside in May; drone shots capture the panoramic view of the “Last Tear of the Atlantic” · Secret photo spot: Overlook Guozigou Bridge from Dianjiangtai, where snowy mountains and the bridge compose a “Symphony of Heaven and Earth” 2. Nalati Sky Grassland (Shuttle bus 60 RMB) - Horse riding tips: Choose a chestnut horse at a herder’s home (80 RMB/hour), ride deep into the uninhabited area along Snow Lotus Valley, and occasionally encounter Yili horses grazing on snow grass 3. Kuerdening (Entrance fee 45 RMB) - Hiking route: Ten-mile Gallery → Spruce Forest → Qimengde Viewing Platform; in late May, wild apple blossoms bloom like mist—wear a white dress for forest-themed photoshoots 4. Composition tips: · Low-angle shots of flower seas: Let wildflowers occupy 1/3 of the frame, leaving sky blank to create depth · Snow mountain reflections: Find calm water near the east gate of Sayram Lake, use 2-second long exposure to capture triple exposure of “snow mountain + flower sea + cloud shadows” 2. Filter recommendations: · VSCO A6 (reduce highlights to emphasize grassland layers) · Xingtu “Blue Sky” filter (enhance contrast between sky blue and flower colors) 💡 Insider Tips from Experience · Dressing formula: Wear a thin sweater and fleece vest under a windbreaker; with a 15°C temperature difference between morning and evening, just add or remove the outer layer · Food highlights: Must-try “Mabaikai” (lamb hand-pulled slices) at Tekesi night market, freshly baked matsutake mushroom buns at Gongnaisi Forest Farm · Pitfall warnings: · Avoid the “10 RMB horse ride” trap at scenic area entrances; official stables rent from 30 minutes with insurance included · Kalajun alpine meadows are closed before June; turn off “via points” in navigation to avoid detours When cities are wrapped in steel and concrete, Yili in May still retains the wild poetic charm of “wind blowing low grass revealing cattle and sheep.” This spring, bring your tent and tripod to collect 72 hours of unique springtime experiences—after all, waiting for the snowmelt by Sayram Lake is the most meaningful travel ritual of 2026🌿

Who would have thought! Deep in the Tianshan Mountains lies an "alien landscape." In autumn, the golden stone forest and snow-capped mountains frame each other, a secret even locals keep to themselves! There are no crowds here, only the echo of the wind passing through the rock layers. It is arguably Xinjiang’s most underrated autumn treasure—the Tianshan Stone Forest. This time, we’ll unlock in-depth experiences of the Stone Forest and its surroundings, solving all transportation, accommodation, and photography challenges so that ordinary travelers can easily enjoy it! The Tianshan Stone Forest is located deep within the Bayinbuluke Grassland. Formed by billions of years of glacial erosion, the towering granite pillars, dozens of meters high, take on various shapes resembling fierce beasts or ancient castles. In autumn, the golden grassland highlights the stone forest, paired with the snowy mountains in the distance, making every photo look like a cinematic masterpiece. 🚗【Transportation Tips】: Self-driving or carpooling is recommended! From Bayinbuluke Town, drive about 60 kilometers along Provincial Road S217, then turn onto a country road with 20 kilometers of gravel road. Ordinary cars can pass but should slow down. Along the way, you’ll pass grassland trails and stream valleys, with plenty of spots to stop and take photos. The drive takes about 2.5 hours, and the scenery is stunning all along the route. ⏰【Best Time to Visit】: Mid-October to early November is the golden period! At this time, the grassland sheds its green for a golden outfit, the stone forest glows warmly under the sun, and the snow mountains start accumulating snow. The three colors collide to create an ultimate visual feast. Avoid morning fog before 10 a.m. and backlighting after 4 p.m. for better photos. 🌟【In-Depth Activities】: 1. Stone Forest Hiking Loop: The core scenic area has a 3-kilometer wooden boardwalk passing through sights like the “Lion Welcoming Guests” and “Castle Group.” Climb to the viewing platform for a panoramic view. Allocate 2-3 hours and wear non-slip shoes to avoid falls. 2. Surrounding Exploration: Spend the morning at the Stone Forest, then drive 40 minutes to Swan Lake in the afternoon. In autumn, swans prepare to migrate south, and the lake reflects the snowy mountains, making every shot a healing scene. 3. Cultural Experience: Along the way, you’ll encounter Mongolian herders’ yurts where you can taste authentic milk tea and hand-grabbed meat, ride horses across the grassland, and experience simple folk customs (communicate prices in advance for peace of mind). ⚠️【Avoid Pitfalls】: · There are no convenience stores in the scenic area, so bring enough drinking water and snacks, and take all your trash with you; · The temperature difference in the autumn mountains is large—wear a light jacket during the day and add a down jacket in the early morning and evening. Prepare for wind and sun protection; · Mobile signals are unstable, so download offline maps in advance to avoid getting lost. 🏡【Accommodation Suggestions】: Stay in Bayinbuluke Town on the return. Choose heated guesthouses priced between 150-300 RMB per night. Book at least 3 days in advance during peak season. Some guesthouses offer pick-up and drop-off services. The autumn at Tianshan Stone Forest is free from the noise of popular tourist spots, blending nature and culture. Here, you can truly slow down and feel the vastness and grandeur of Xinjiang.
