I took my boys with family friends to the stadium tour—we’re Ipswich Town fans, following home and away—and decided to start doing a few tours to experience what it’s like for players at other grounds. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. The reception staff were friendly and chatty, which was wonderful. That positive vibe carried through the entire tour, which was amazing. It’s great having tours led by actual fans with season tickets who share their favorite memories and fun facts; for instance, I learned why Craven Cottage got its name—I had always assumed it was because of the Cottage in the corner! I loved seeing the intimacy of the Cottage, the dressing rooms, the directors lounge with the balcony, and the Johnny Haynes stand with its wooden seats, which felt truly special. These spots showcased real history and life, unlike the soulless stadiums you often come across these days. We genuinely all enjoyed it, and I can’t recommend it highly enough for football fans. If Fulham wanted to elevate it from outstanding to exceptional, exploring a box or players lounge would be remarkable—getting a glimpse of life from the other side, so to speak. Maybe that’s available only on tours during the season, since clubs often maintain those areas during the off-season. A huge thank you for making the experience so unforgettable—we’ll be back this May when Ipswich takes on Fulham at the Cottage!
