I still remember standing beside Lake Bled early in the morning, watching the mist slowly lift from the water. You have a hilltop castle overlooking the city, a crystal-clear river winding through the old town, medieval streets, bridges guarded by dragons, and enough greenery to make you wonder whether nature secretly owns the place. All that's missing is a quest-giving wizard standing in the town square. The heart of Ljubljana is the beautiful Ljubljanica River, whose emerald-green waters flow gently through the city center. Lined with cafés, historic buildings, and leafy walkways, the river gives the city a relaxed charm that's hard to resist. One of the things I loved most about Ljubljana was how walkable it was. Unlike some cities where you spend half your vacation trying to figure out buses, trains, trams, and whether Google Maps has suddenly developed a sense of humor, Ljubljana's Old Town is compact enough that most major attractions are within walking distance. At Ljubljana Castle, the dragon appears prominently in the city's history and symbolism. Even the adorable LPP Urban Circular Train, which offers a 75-minute sightseeing ride around the city, proudly uses a cheerful green dragon as its mascot. During the tour, visitors can learn about the dragon legends that have become part of Ljubljana's identity. At that point, I was beginning to suspect the dragons were running the city. Even many of the sightseeing boats cruising along the Ljubljanica are painted in vibrant shades of green. Not subtle green. Dragon green. While traveling in Slovenia, I missed Korean food so much that I visited a Korean restaurant in Ljubljana! Here, I got to enjoy tteokbokki and bossam, and it was such a delight to find authentic Korean cuisine in a foreign land 😍. The tteokbokki had a sweet and spicy sauce that tasted almost identical to what I used to have in Korea, which was truly touching. The bossam was tender, free of any unpleasant smell, and had a clean flavor 🥢. Especially with the addition of fresh lettuce wraps and kimchi, it perfectly satisfied my craving for the taste of Korea that I had been missing. I heard that even locals in Ljubljana frequent this place, and after visiting, I could see why it's so popular.
