I traveled by plane, passing through immigration at Juanda Airport in Surabaya, after 4 hours. Then, a 5-hour bus ride from the airport to Jember. 🇲🇨 The cover photo shows the nighttime arrival at Jember University. The second photo is of the university's guesthouse. The third and fourth photos are of a cheap hotel about 1 km from the university called RedDoorz, costing around 500 baht per night. The fifth photo shows actual street food and drink stalls. Some sections of the sidewalk were used as seating areas for eaters, forcing us to walk on the road, a gamble with the traffic. It's important to understand that this country has a large population and many cars and motorcycles on the roads, so extra caution is needed. 🇲🇨 The sixth photo shows me eating at a stall that wasn't on the sidewalk. I ordered Soto Ayam, Indonesian-style rice with chicken and soup. It was delicious and not too spicy. Even though I ordered it spicy, it cost 15,000 Rupiah. Picture seven shows the abundance of street vendors selling fruit, a famous local specialty. I ordered Melon and Dragon Fruit Juice for 12,000 Rupiah.
