While visiting Riga for a few days you should plan for a half day for visiting one of the beaches , not far away from the city. we choose to visit Jutmala. It’s about a 30 minute train ride away and only cost less than 5euro for a round trip! The train ride is a great way to see and meet the local people of Latvia. In Juvenal we spend 1 h just walking up and down the beach. After the walk we wanted some coffee, so we went in to town and walk around for a hunt! we found a cafe with some lovely cakes and drinks. we walk the street up in the little town and look at all the shops. Mostly cloths and souvenirs things. I got myself a scarf with Latvia red and white color. When our feet stared to hurt we went back to the train station and went back to Riga again.

I took the elektrichka from Riga Central to Dzintari station (€1.20 tap with the E-talons card, 25 min, runs every 20–30 min) and stepped onto Dzintari Beach at 8 am. The Baltic here is wide, flat, amber-grey, with a 33 m tall wooden observation tower (free climb) and a clean pine-shaded promenade behind the sand. Jurmala's beach is free; the resort tax is on hotels, not day visitors. After a slow 2 km walk north through the pine scent, I bussed back to Riga, grabbed a regional train to Ķemeri station (another €1.20), and walked 1.5 km from the station to the Great Ķemeri Bog Boardwalk—also free, no ticket booth, no gate. The 1.8 km loop is planked, with two watchtowers over black peat water and sphagnum moss so bright it looks artificial. I wore trail shoes; the plank was slippery with dew at 9 am but fine by 11. Mistake: I tried to do both Jurmala and Ķemeri in one morning by bike—wrong, the distances between stations eat time, trains are faster. Pack water; the bog has one toilet at the trailhead, nothing inside. A local rule: stay on the boardwalk, the bog surface sinks and damages restoration work. Worth it? From the station, it’s just a pleasant walk to the beach. The beach is wide, clean, and perfect for relaxing. One of the main entrances features the famous Turtle Statue, a popular photo spot. You can enjoy a long walk along the soft sand, play on the beach, or even take a refreshing swim in the sea. Changing facilities are also available for visitors. Near the beach you’ll notice a very iconic green building with charming Swiss-style architecture that adds to the unique atmosphere of the area. If you plan to stay overnight, the Baltic Beach Hotel is a great choice with beautiful sea views. While there are food places along the beach, I recommend walking to the nearby Majori area. The lively street called Jomas Iela is full of restaurants, cafés, and small hotels. It’s a great place to enjoy delicious food, shop for souvenirs, jewelry, and other stylish items, or simply enjoy some street food while soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. When I said tornado I actually meant I regretted doing Estonia Latvia and Lithuania in just a few days. What I should have done is to do a deep dive of some 14 days in the three countries. But if 5-6 days are all you have (essentially 1-2 days in each country)… The good thing here is that the capital cities of Tallinn Riga and Vilnius are generally extremely compact and walkable. You can practically do each of the capitals in 1 day. The nice thing is that they have very different vibes and they don’t quite repeat Tallinn you go for the medieval architecture and the very well maintained/refurbished city wall. Riga is gothic. Vilnius is more baroque but has a healthy dose of contemporary art and hipster vibe The museums require some strategising because all 3 countries showcase their ww2 and independence struggles. All 3 capitals feature a liberation museum and a kgb house of sorts. I personally did only the riga ones and cannot compare, but I’d say these are fairly comprehensive exhibitions that can take you 2-3 hours. Do note that different countries have different days where everyone goes to museums for free and days where practically no museums are open. The other thing to plan are the day trips. Day trips from Riga include one to a castle town which I skipped in favour of an outting to the beaches of Jūrmala and the trek around the famous bogs of kemeri. Day trips from Vilnius include another castle town (Trakai) and the mounds of Kernave. There’s generally quite a few things to choose from. But what’s definitely in extra supply in Eastern Europe are castles and city walls….and I’d say don’t wear yourself out with castle after castle unless you are a true architecture enthusiast Not much else to say that you can’t research online. These three countries are truly places you can go cashless (bar latvia where there are still places that don’t do public transport tap and go). Intra city is very well covered by flixbus (4 hour max city to city) Of course if you are renting a car all the merrier there’s so many more places you can cover…

I have been having great moments while visiting Lithuania, Latvia and soon Estonia. The Old Towns are so magnificent. I managed to visit other towns/cities aside from capitals. Wish to come back and explore more! Lithuania - Don’t forget to visit Trakai, Kaunas! Latvia - Take a chance to explore Cēsis and Jūrmala. Both towns are easy-accessed by train from capital, Rīga.

There’s a certain kind of magic that only happens when the sun dips low over the Baltic Sea. At Jūrmala Beach, I found that magic in full force. The horizon stretched endlessly, tinged with soft golds and pinks, while the water—shallow and calm—mirrored the sky like a watercolor painting. Wading out into the sea, I could walk for what felt like forever with the water barely reaching my knees. It made the whole experience feel dreamlike—floating between sky and sea. Today, I went to Jūrmala is a Latvian resort city, I started from Riga Central Railway Station to Majori station to go to Jūrmala beach which is resort city on the Gulf of Riga. Because I went there low season, people are not much and around area is quiet and good with for walking and get some fresh air also enjoy the sea view. Nearby the beach, there has shops and restaurants to services and Orthodox Church of the Kazan which is spotlight that tourist went to take a photo.
