Kashihara travel guide and discussion

Strolling through Nara in the summer, I started my day with a chill early morning walk, and it felt absolutely amazing~ Here's my main itinerary: 🌸 Fujiwara Palace Site | Lotuses in Full Bloom This is the perfect spot for an early summer morning visit. The lotus flowers look stunning bathed in the morning sun! Since they only bloom in the morning, it creates a seasonal, romantic vibe that’s absolutely perfect for photography~ 🏮 Imai-cho | Time Travel to the Edo Period Preserving the historic streetscapes of the Edo period, it's wonderfully uncrowded in the morning. Wandering alone through the stone-paved paths and tranquil alleys felt like traveling through time—a perfect way to soak in the historic atmosphere in peace. 🎐 Ofusa Kannonji Temple | A Summer Symphony of 2,500+ Wind Chimes Ofusa Kannon is an iconic summer destination in Nara! The entire temple is adorned with thousands of wind chimes that tinkle soothingly in the breeze, creating a truly healing experience. You can catch this beautiful display every year from June to August for the ultimate summer vibe~ 🔥 Although the daytime heat can be intense, if you manage to wake up early, the cool morning breeze combined with the peaceful serenity is incredibly rewarding. 🚗 It's only about a 1-hour drive from Osaka, making it easy to hit up multiple spots even if you only have half a day~ This quick summer getaway to Nara was so relaxing. Whether you're into snapping aesthetic photos for the gram or just looking for a quiet, peaceful stroll, this route is definitely for you!

\\Tourist Spots// Seasonal flowers are planted at the ruins of Fujiwara-kyo in the ancient capital of Nara. The autumn flower "cosmos" is in full bloom right now. The flower fields that spread out as far as the eye could see were soothing. Another nice point is that admission is free! Café Hisohiso is a hidden cafe located a 30-minute walk from Kintetsu Miminari Station. There is an old gate with a rabbit sign. Just past the gate is the cafe. As the name suggests, this cafe is hidden away in nature and serves cute baked goods and desserts. The interior of the cafe is decorated with dried flowers, creating a stylish space. Please be careful when you go as there are few opening days and opening hours. #photogenicspot#driedflowers#cafe#nara

Kashihara, the place where Japan was founded I went to Kashihara Shrine, a shrine with vast grounds that I had only seen in history textbooks I've been to Nara several times, but this was my first visit to Kashihara Shrine It was a vast and magnificent place that I recommend you visit at least once if you come to Nara #WorldHeritage #Nara #HinaMatsuri

Address: Kashihara City Atmosphere/Facilities: Solemn Recommended points: Feels refreshing. Average price: 0 Budget per person: 0 Rating:

This is a large shrine located in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture. In fact, its history of construction is relatively recent, dating back to the Meiji Period. However, its origins date back to the distant past, to Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor of Japan. A petition from private citizens was filed on the site where Emperor Jimmu's palace is said to have stood, and Emperor Meiji, inspired by this petition, founded the shrine. The extremely large grounds are home to many magnificent buildings, making it a popular tourist spot in Nara. #Shrine #Nara Prefecture

Nara's newly designated World Heritage site, "Archaeological Sites of Asuka-Fujiwara: Capitals of Ancient Japan and Related Properties," was added this July and includes over 20 locations across Sakurai, Kashihara, and Asuka. 🚲 There is a bike rental shop right outside Asuka Station. I highly recommend an electric bike, otherwise, you'll need the strength of a triathlete to handle the hills here. The rental shop is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. No deposit is required, and a standard bike costs just ¥900 for the day. 🚲 A 5-minute ride from the station brings you to: 📍 Takamatsuzuka Tomb. This is a mural tomb, though you can only see the exterior. You can view the murals at the small museum next door. Admission is ¥300. Continue riding for another 15 minutes to: 📍 Kitora Tomb and Shijin-kan Museum. Featuring ancient murals and the four mythical beasts, the museum here is free to visit. You can only see the exterior of the tomb itself. The next stop is a 30-minute ride away, with plenty of other ruins along the way where you can stop and take photos. 📍 Ishibutai Tomb. Get up close to this megalithic tomb from the Asuka period. This is my top recommendation. Admission is ¥500, and you can go inside to see the structure of the tomb. I've visited the other World Heritage sites on separate trips. If you're interested, you can search for "Asuka" in my posts.

#slowtraveling Below are posts 91–100, the final set of the #slowtraveling series. Each is anchored to one named destination, 250+ words, English, titled, with transit (line/station/fare), cash vs IC, etiquette, a personal timing mistake, and a closing question. No URLs or phone numbers. 91. Asuka’s Japan’s Oldest Great Buddha Pilgrimage Asuka-dera (Asuka Village, Nara) houses the Gangō-ji Gokokuji Shaka Nyorai, cast in 609 AD—Japan’s oldest surviving Great Buddha at 2.75m, 200 years before Nara’s Daibutsu. From Kintetsu Asuka Station (Yoshino Line, ~640 yen IC from Kintetsu Nara via Kashiharajingu-mae), walk 15 min north on the pencil lane. Open 9:00–17:00, 300 yen cash adult, shoe-off at genkan, honden 5-yen offering, two bows two claps one bow. I went 8:40 a.m. weekday: rented e-bike 1,500 cash at 8:45 (post 75 logic), rode to Asuka-dera at 8:55, paid 300 cash just as the gate opened. Inside: the 1,400-year copper Shaka, the original Yakushi and Amida from 706, and the three-story pagoda base. Sat on the temple bench 20 min—no tour bus, just the bell. A 130-yen vending hojicha (IC) from the Asuka Lawsons after. By 10:30 the school group arrived; at 8:55 the Buddha was the 7th century’s own silence. 45 min, 1,930 yen. IC train, cash bike + temple. Etiquette: temple = shoe-off (socks), 5-yen, two bows two claps one bow, the 609 AD copper is 1,400 years—no flash, the pencil lane is private farmland—stay on it, no drone (village ban). Mistake: 13:00 November—Asuka-dera a file, the honden a queue. 8:40 weekday, bell-ring, is Asuka’s own Buddha hour. Question: when Japan’s oldest Buddha sits in a village with no fence and a 300-yen gate, is the pilgrimage the history or the humility? 92. Dorogawa Onsen’s Hanaya Tokubei Local Cuisine Hanaya Tokubei (Dorogawa Onsen, Tenkawa, Nara) is the 1902 ryokan on the main lane, 3-min walk from the Kawayu bridge. From Shimoichi-guchi (Kintetsu, ~1,150 yen IC from Osaka Abenobashi) take the Nara Kotsu bus to Dorogawa (~1,150 yen IC/cash, last bus ~17:30). Lunch 11:30–14:00, reservation required for non-guests (call ahead), 2,500–3,500 yen cash for the full kaiseki (local amago trout, wild veg, tofu). Day-use bath separate 800 yen cash. I went 11:20 a.m. weekday: bus from Shimoichi-guchi 9:40, Dorogawa 10:50, walked the riverside (post 67) then to Hanaya Tokubei at 11:25—first lunch seating, reservation shown. Paid 3,000 cash for the trout kaiseki: grilled amago, mountain fern, tofu skin, pickles, rice. Ate in the 1902 dining room looking at the cedar wall. A 130-yen vending apple soda (IC) from the bus-stop kiosk after. By 12:30 the day-trippers filled the bath; at 11:25 the ryokan was the onsen’s own table hour. 2 hrs, ~3,130 yen. IC train+bus, cash-only at Tokubei. Etiquette: ryokan lunch = shoe-off slippers, don’t pour your own sake (staff does), the cedar wall is 1902—no touch, day-use bath 800 cash—towel rental extra, the lane is 1.5m—no roller bag. Mistake: 13:00 weekend—lunch full, no reservation turned away. 11:20 weekday, trout-grill, is Dorogawa’s own forest hour. Question: when a 1902 onsen ryokan serves 3,000-yen mountain kaiseki to people who rode a 1,150-yen bus for 70 minutes, is the meal the reward or the ransom? 93. Yatsuo’s Sloping Street Cinematic Empty Frame Yatsuo’s “cinematic frame” is the 600m Suwamachi slope viewed from the bottom looking up—the 19th-c plaster ochre walls, the 92 cedar steps, the telegraph poles, all compressed into one vertical. From JR Etchū-Yatsuo (~20 min from Toyama, ~330 yen IC), 15-min walk up. Free, 24h. The frame works 6:30–7:15 a.m. May–June (lateral wash) or 7:00–7:45 Jan–Feb (blue hour). No tripod—beanbag on the lower step. I went 6:25 a.m. May weekday (post 28/65 logic): off the 6:02, walked to the bottom of Suwamachi at 6:35, sat on the lowest step with a beanbag, framed the slope—the cedar steps repeated up, the ochre walls graded lighter, one shutter half-open at the top. A 130-yen vending black coffee (IC) from the station Lawsons. Shot 12 frames by 7:05, packed up before the first delivery dolly. The frame is the town as one image—no people, no sign, just the 19th century holding its breath. 45 min, 130 yen. IC train, IC vending. Etiquette: Owara = elegiac—no flash, the cobble is 19th-c—beanbag not tripod, don’t photograph a resident’s genkan as “prop”, Suwa shrine gate at the top = two bows two claps one bow if you climb. Mistake: 9 a.m. any day—shadow gone, the slope a delivery track. 6:25 May, lateral-wash, is Yatsuo’s own frame hour. Question: when the best photograph of a town is the one that erases everyone who lives there, is the image the record or the erasure? 94. Imaicho’s Edo Storehouse Wall Pattern Walk Imaicho (Kashihara, Nara) preserves 48 Edo storehouses with white plaster namako walls and black-tile gables. From Kintetsu Yagi-Nishiguchi 7-min walk (~470 yen IC from Kintetsu Nara). The “pattern walk” is the 600m grid between Tsuneoka Shoyu (post 73) and Kawai Sake (post 22): the wall textures—namako diamond, kote-e plaster relief, the 19th-c roof tiles, the 1700s merchant doorframes. Free, 24h outer. I went 8:50 a.m. weekday: Yagi-Nishiguchi → Imai grid, walked the wall lane before Tsuneoka opened at 9:00. Stopped at 11 storehouses—one with a kote-e wave pattern, one with a repaired namako crack from 1927, one with the original 1780 door hinge. A 130-yen vending hojicha (IC) from the station side. By 10:30 the brewery tour groups started; at 8:50 the walls were the Edo grid’s own skin hour. 60 min, 130 yen. IC train, IC vending. Etiquette: Imaicho = the grid is residential—don’t enter a storehouse driveway, the namako wall is 19th-c plaster—don’t finger-rub, the kote-e relief is art—don’t lean a tripod on it, no drone. Mistake: 14:00 Sunday—walls a tour-guide lecture, the lane a file. 8:50 weekday, plaster-shadow, is Imaicho’s own Edo hour. Question: when a town’s most beautiful thing is the outside of buildings you can’t enter, is the walk the tour or the tease? 95. Karuizawa’s Missionary Chapel Woodland Wedding Lane Karuizawa’s “Missionary Chapel” refers to the cluster on the old Ginza lane—the St. Paul’s Catholic Church (1938, red-brick, 9:00–16:00, free outer, no interior without mass) and the Karuizawa Union Church (1936, wooden, similar hours). From Naka-Karuizawa (Shinano Railway, ~2,100 yen IC from Ueno) 15-min walk up the tree-lined lane. The “wedding lane” is the 400m between the two chapels—Meiji villas, linden shade, the 1900s summer-retreat seam. I went 8:55 a.m. weekday: Naka-Karuizawa → Ginza-dori 9:05, first to the St. Paul’s gate, photographed the red brick from the lane (no interior, no mass). Walked to Union Church 9:20—wooden facade, the 1936 bell silent. A 130-yen vending coffee (IC) from the station kiosk, eaten on the linden bench. By 10:30 the first wedding party arrived for a 11:00 ceremony; at 8:55 the lane was the missionary’s own prayer hour. 50 min, 130 yen. IC train, IC vending. Etiquette: chapel = two palms no clap (Christian), the red brick is 1938—no lean, the lane is 2m—no roller bag, the wedding parties have right-of-way—step aside, no drone. Mistake: 11:30 Saturday—lane a petal-strew, the chapels closed for private ceremony. 8:55 weekday, linden-shadow, is Karuizawa’s own mission hour. Question: when a 1938 red-brick chapel on a summer-retreat lane charges nothing and opens only for mass, is the silence the worship or the wait?

#slowtraveling Tsuneoka Shoyu (3-2-34 Imaicho, Kashihara): from Kintetsu Yagi-Nishiguchi 7-min walk (~470 yen IC from Kintetsu Nara with transfer). Brewery 9:00–17:00, 500 yen cash tour with a 100ml tamari souvenir, reservation by phone/desk ahead (off-season slots thin). The “alley” is the 200m between Tsuneoka and Kawai Sake Brewery (post 22), both 1700s grid. I went 8:50 a.m. weekday: Yagi-Nishiguchi → Imai grid, Tsuneoka not open till 9—waited on the drain-stone with a 130-yen vending hojicha (IC), in at 9:05, paid 500 cash, reservation note shown. The 30-min tour: cedar moromi vats (18-month ferment), the 1909 recipe card, then the 100ml tamari bottle. Walked the 200m to Kawai after (sake tasting free). The alley is two ferments 200m apart since the Meiji grid held. IC train, 500 cash tour. Etiquette: brewery = shoe-off at the genkan (socks), don’t photograph the moromi log without asking, the cedar vat row is 1.5m—don’t back in, tour needs reservation off-season (walk-in sometimes refused 14:00+). Mistake: 14:30 Sunday—Tsuneoka full slot, Kawai irregular-closed. 8:50 weekday, moromi steam, is Imai’s own salt hour. Question: when one lane ferments beans into 18-month tamari and rice into sake 200m apart since 1772, is the town the pantry or the argument?

#slowtraveling Imai-cho, Kashihara: from Kintetsu Yagi-Nishiguchi 6 min walk (from Kintetsu Nara ~30 min + transfer, ~470 yen IC). The alley seam is the 200m between Kawai Sake Brewery (1-7-8 Imaicho, est. 1772, open 9–16, cash only, free tasting of “Shusse Otoko”) and Tsuneoka Soy Sauce (3-2-34, cedar-barrel moromi, 9–17, 500-yen tour with bottle souvenir, cash/reserve). I went 8:50 a.m. weekday: Yagi-Nishiguchi → into Imai’s grid, hit Kawai first at 9:00 open—bowed at the gate (two palms, Buddhist, no clap), stepped into the 18th-c kitchen where the 16th-gen brewer’s father poured me 3 cups of Shusse Otoko honjozo genshu (18%, free, 20 min, no pressure to buy). Bought a 1,800-yen 720ml (cash). Then walked the lane east, Tsuneoka not open till 9—waited on the drain-stone with a 130-yen vending hojicha (IC), in at 9:05, smelled the moromi barrel row before paying 500 cash for the 30-min tour + 100ml tamari souvenir. The two breweries 200m apart, one rice one bean, same 1700s grid. IC train, cash breweries. Etiquette: Kawai = shoe-off at the kitchen step (socks ready), don’t photograph the brew log without asking, the Tsuneoka barrel room is 1.5m—don’t back into a cedar vat, soy tour needs reservation off-season. Mistake: 14:00 Sunday—Kawai closed irregular, Tsuneoka full tour slot gone. 8:50 weekday, moromi steam, is Imai’s own ferment hour. Question: when one lane ferments rice into sake and beans into soy 200m apart since 1772, is the town the pantry or the recipe?

#slowtraveling Imai-cho in Kashihara, Nara, is one of the best-preserved Edo-period merchant quarters in Kansai—over 500 machiya, a moat, and a grid that hasn’t moved since the 16th c. From Kintetsu Nara take the Kashihara line to Yagi-Nishiguchi (~30 min, ~470 yen IC), 5 min walk; or JR from Nara to Unebi (~40 min) then 8 min walk. Street is free, 24h; the Kawai Residence (old sake brewery, 100 yen cash, 10–16:30, Mon close) and the Imai Machiya Museum (free, 9–12) are the two indoor stops. I went 8:40 a.m. weekday: off at Yagi-Nishiguchi, crossed the moat bridge while the lane shadow still lay east, walked the grid counterclockwise from Shonen-ji. The plaster walls of the Imanishi house (1650, exterior only) glow ochre in low light; a granny swept the drain channel with a bamboo broom. Bought a 130-yen vending hojicha (IC) from the Hanairaka exchange center kiosk (open 9, but the outdoor machine works), drank it leaning on the drum-tower post. By 10:30 the Kashihara school group arrives; at 8:40 it’s 1700 and nobody’s selling you anything. IC train, cash for Kawai. Etiquette: these are lived-in houses—don’t photograph the genkan flower pots like a catalogue, don’t wheel a suitcase on the 200-year-old drainage stones, bow faintly at Shonen-ji’s gate (two palms, Buddhist). Mistake: I once came 13:00 Sunday—Hanairaka queue, the lane a cycling-file of tourists. 8:40 weekday, broom-echo, is Imai’s own Edo. Question: when a town freezes its merchant grid at 1650 and rents you the silence for free, is the heritage the houses or the absence of a ticket gate?

With no signboards and not even on Google Maps yet, the only thing marking the traditional house cafe "Saryo Hakutai" is the white curtain hanging out front. It opened around Golden Week last year🎊 Since they don't list their exact address on Instagram (though there is a map link), I’ll keep it a secret too. I highly recommend wandering through the town to discover it yourself. It's located where a certain shop used to be, so those in the know might figure it out🤭 The cafe is run by "Hakutai," an all-around production company based in Osaka City. They handle urban development and design, frequently partnering on projects in Nara’s Uda and Kashihara cities✍️ Their specialties include udon made with carefully crafted dashi broth, alongside authentic Yoshino kuzumochi (arrowroot cake). They also offer seasonal dishes and Western-style sweets. Prices are what you'd expect in a tourist area😌 This time, I tried their summer-exclusive set menu. It featured sudachi udon as the main dish, kuzumochi for dessert, and a "Chilled Plum Drop Black Tea Soda" to drink☀️ The dashi, brewed from bonito and kelp, is salt-free and super healthy. The sudachi udon is served cold with ice, topped with a beautiful ring of premium A-grade sliced sudachi from Tokushima🍊 The low-sodium, light dashi pairs perfectly with the perfectly firm udon noodles. The refined tang of the sudachi is incredibly refreshing and delicious. Biting into the sudachi slices adds a pleasant hint of bitterness from the rind, which is also fantastic🥰 True to its Yoshino Honkuzu name, the kuzumochi is amazingly chewy and jiggly! Try it plain first, then generously drizzle on the kinako (roasted soybean flour) and kuromitsu (black syrup)! The salted cherry blossom garnish was saltier than I expected🌸 Then there’s the drink. The candied plums, syrup, and plum drops are all made from fruit harvested from the plum tree in their very own courtyard. Muddling the plum as you drink lets you enjoy the rich plum flavor from the first sip to the last🥰 Even when it was a different shop, this place had a calm and relaxing vibe, and I’m so happy they’ve kept that same peaceful atmosphere🥹 Next time, I just want to zone out on the porch and gaze at the garden🙂↕️ *Information as of July 2025. 【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】 📍 Somewhere in Imai-cho, Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture 🚶♀️ 10 minutes from Kintetsu Yagi-nishiguchi Station 🕚 [Weekdays] 11:30 AM – 4:00 PM 🕚 [Weekends & Holidays] 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM 🗓 Closed Mondays (irregular closures may apply) 🅿️ Paid parking available nearby ⁡.⁡ ⁡. ⁡ Cafe

If you hustle out the West Exit of Kintetsu Kashiharajingu-mae Station, you can reach "Menya Ichibiri" in just 30 seconds. As the flagship store of the Ichibiri Group, they serve up an incredible seafood and tonkotsu (pork bone) soy sauce ramen🍜 Their broth is a double soup: a rich animal-based paitan broth made by simmering domestic pork and chicken for 10 hours, blended with a seafood stock that extracts umami from six types of fish, including Chiba-sourced dried black-backed sardines and mackerel flakes. You can enjoy three styles of noodles here—ramen, tsukemen (dipping noodles), and mazesoba (mixed noodles)—and they carefully select a different type of noodle for each dish💡 For the ramen, they use whole-wheat, highly hydrated, medium-thick straight noodles. The aroma of the wheat and the chewy texture are amazing♪ This time, I went with the "Special" which comes with double the bamboo shoots, 2 extra slices of chashu pork, and a seasoned soft-boiled egg☺️ I'm totally obsessed with the soup, so my personal style is to dunk every topping into the broth first. Upgrading to the "Special" lets you fully enjoy the contrasting textures of the noodles and the various toppings🥰 I also ordered the "Sudachi Rice" because a follower told me how good it is. Squeezing the sudachi citrus over sesame-salt rice creates an irresistible balance of saltiness and acidity... plus, it pairs insanely well with the soup🥹 There's usually a bit of a wait, but it's so delicious that you'll completely understand why people line up for it. You definitely have to check it out!🍜 ⁡⁡【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】⁡ 📍 1F Koyanagi Bldg., 593 Kumecho, Kashihara, Nara 🚶♀️ Right next to Kintetsu Kashiharajingu-mae Station 🕚 [Weekdays] 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM – 9:30 PM (L.O. 30 mins before closing) 🕚 [Weekends & Holidays] 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (L.O. 15 mins before closing) 🗓 Closed Tuesdays and the 3rd Monday of the month (Open on public holidays) 🅿️ Paid parking available nearby ⁡.⁡ ⁡. ⁡ Kashihara City ⁡⁡ ⁡

I visited Horiuchi Fruit Garden's new cafe parlor, "Horiuchi Fruit Garden TEA PARLOUR," located on the 2nd floor of Aeon Mall Kashihara, in the space formerly occupied by Marufuku Coffee Shop! I arrived around noon, and there were many people waiting in front of the store, showing just how popular it is! 👀 This time, I tried their signature afternoon tea! It's a three-tiered set, featuring sweets and savory items made with plenty of Horiuchi Fruit Garden's signature fruits. 🍇🍓🍎 The scones on the top tier are supervised by the popular Osaka shop "Tawanico." They're crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with a gentle flavor that showcases the quality of the ingredients. ☺️ The clotted cream and strawberry (or something similar) sauce were also delicious! 🍓 The middle tier features cheesecake, pound cake, and pie, served with fruits like strawberries and grapes. The small tart topped with banana was particularly tasty! 🍌 The bottom tier is savory. The afternoon tea consisted of quiche and fruit salad. Horiuchi Fruit Farm is known for its persimmons, and the persimmons in the salad were incredibly sweet and tender – absolutely delicious! 🥳 The tea, an essential part of afternoon tea, is from 'TEA ROOM KIKI,' a tea specialty shop with its main store in Kyoto. It's served in authentic British 'Burleigh' teaware. 🫧🫖 The tea is free-flowing (90-minute limit), with 10 different teas offered randomly each time. Enjoy the fragrant flavored teas combining fruits and herbs! 🥰 They also offer parfaits, pancakes, quiche and curry lunch sets, and French toast available only in the morning! We also have a great selection of original drinks 🍸 Why not enjoy a slightly luxurious tea time during your shopping break? ☺️ ⁡⁡【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】⁡ 📍 7-20-1 Magarikawa-cho, Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture, 2F 🚍 Approximately 20 minutes from Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station, get off at "AEON Mall Kashihara" and it's right there 🚶♀️ Approximately 15 minutes from JR Kanahashi Station 🕙 10:00~21:00 🗓 Same as AEON Mall Kashihara 🅿️ Parking available ⁡. ⁡ ⁡. ⁡#Nara Prefecture #Kashihara City #Horiuchi Fruit Farm #Horiuchi Fruit Farm TEAPARLOUR #Aeon Mall Kashihara #Afternoon Tea #Afternoon Tea Activities #Nara Gourmet #Nara Cafe #Nara Sweets #Nara Afternoon Tea #Nara Sightseeing ⁡⁡ ⁡#Nara Trip #Nara Stroll ⁡⁡ #Nara Outing

I visited "Nara Wa Poke Biyori," a Hawaiian gourmet poke bowl specialty shop that recently opened along the Chuwa Arterial Highway. A quick heads-up ⚠️: If you're driving, you can only enter from the eastbound-to-westbound lanes, so please be careful! You can customize your poke bowl with your favorite toppings and sauces, creating around 100 different delicious combinations! They offer 4 different plans based on the number of ingredients you choose ☺️ For the main protein, you can choose from 6 types of seafood, including salmon, tuna, and octopus. The fixed sub-ingredients are red onions, carrots, and cucumbers, while you can also pick from 14 other mostly vegetable-based options. While they have set plans, you can also add extra ingredients as options. So if you love a bowl packed with goodies, definitely give it a try! You can even top it off with an egg yolk or upgrade to a large portion of rice 👍 Here’s the poke bowl I ordered this time: 《Main》 Octopus, Salmon, Tuna 《Sub》 Edamame, Pickled Daikon Radish, Sesame Seaweed, Red Leaf Lettuce 《Fixed Sub》 Red Onions, Carrots, Cucumbers 《Sauce》 Standard (Korean-style) 《Option》 Egg Yolk There are two types of sauces: a fragrant, sesame oil-based Korean-style sauce and a salsa-like spicy sauce. Both pair perfectly with seafood, so you can simply choose based on whether you want a spicy kick or not ◎ The best way to enjoy your poke bowl is by mixing all the ingredients and rice together. This helps the sauce blend perfectly and makes the texture even richer ☺️ Also, pouring the sea bream broth over it—an exclusive perk for dine-in customers—is incredibly delicious! Hearing that the Nara branch of the popular Okayama-born book cafe "Unomachi Coffee" has introduced a new tofu-based lunch menu, I headed down to Imai-cho in Kashihara City🚶 The new offerings are the "Agedashi Tofu Set Meal" and the "Tofu Rice Bowl Set," and I went with the Agedashi Tofu Set Meal! To be completely honest, this was my third lunch of the day...😇 The set meal centers around agedashi (deep-fried) tofu topped with plum and whitebait, accompanied by boiled tofu, pork miso soup, rice, and pickles. The softly rising steam gives off such a comforting vibe💭 The tofu is soft enough to pick up with chopsticks (if you're gentle!). You can enjoy the crispy batter of the agedashi, or let it soak up all that delicious dashi broth—both ways are super tasty〜♪ My photography skills don't really do it justice, but the pork miso soup was packed with ingredients. It’s a filling yet healthy set meal that was incredibly gentle on my stomach, even for my third lunch😌 I didn't try the Tofu Rice Bowl, but it looked like agedashi tofu topped with plenty of bonito flakes over rice. I heard it's drizzled with a sweet and savory sauce, which sounds absolutely mouthwatering🍚 Unomachi Coffee might be known for its afternoon cafe vibes with cream sodas, parfaits, and coffee, but their healthy tofu lunch is totally delicious too, so definitely give it a try💖 【 𝕀𝕟𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 】 📍 4-3-6 Imai-cho, Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture 🚶 7 minutes from Kintetsu Yagi-nishiguchi Station 🕚 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM (L.O. 4:00 PM) 🗓 Irregular holidays 🅿️ Paid parking available nearby ⁡.⁡ ⁡.

Toichi Pancake Kitahorie Branch (Toichi Pancake) Arriving in Kitahorie, the streets lack the hustle and bustle of Shinsaibashi, nor do they have the crowds of Dotonbori. Walking from the station, sunlight dances between the buildings. Cafes and little boutiques are scattered along the street corners, naturally making you slow down your pace. Approaching Toichi Pancake, the exterior walls are draped with greenery and flowers. Neon lights are shaped into cute pancake designs, and photos of seasonal limited-edition desserts are displayed by the entrance. Pushing the door open, the air is filled with the aroma of butter and coffee. The high ceilings, warm lighting, and the framed illustrations and dessert photos on the walls all make you feel like you aren't just here to eat sweets, but to experience a kind of "kawaii culture." The staff are busy preparing drinks, while customers chat softly, take photos, and share their desserts. I ordered the seasonal "Whole Peach Pancake." When it arrived at the table, I was truly left speechless. The pancake was as fluffy as a cloud. Next to it sat an entire peeled peach in a glass, layered over a base of cookie crumbs and ice cream, and topped with fresh whipped cream and edible petals. The plate was also adorned with blueberries, raspberries, and clear jelly, looking as though summer itself had sprinkled glitter across the dish. The moment I took a bite, the sweetness of the peach felt like a burst of sunshine. The pancake was so soft it barely needed chewing, while the cream was light and the fruity flavor was wonderfully refreshing. Another signature item at Toichi Pancake is their 3D Latte Art. I ordered the cat-shaped 3D latte art, and to my surprise, a whole clowder of foam kittens was served! With their chubby faces, pink cheeks, and delicate whiskers, it looked like they were peeking out of the cup right at me. They also offer an incredibly adorable Chihuahua-shaped 3D latte art. I hesitated for so long before taking a sip. This wasn't just a beverage; it was art—a critical hit of cuteness! Taking a sip, the milk was smooth and the sweetness was just right. The moment the foam melted on my tongue, it felt as if my entire afternoon had become a little lighter. In addition to sweets and latte art, the café also serves light meals: · Plain pancake with a classic buttery aroma · Brulee pancake with a crispy caramelized top · Choco banana pancake for a rich, decadent combo · Fried chicken and French fries for a perfectly balanced savory bite They have a wide selection of drinks, ranging from coffee to fresh juices, making it the perfect spot for travelers looking for a quick break. This isn't just your average dessert shop; it's a cozy corner designed to soothe your mood and help travelers wash away their fatigue. Address: cor 1F, 1-17-1 Kitahorie, Nishi-ku, Osaka 550-0014

#springtravel Visiting Kashihara Jingu in Nara Prefecture is an experience that feels both massive and incredibly peaceful. This shrine is dedicated to the very first emperor of Japan, and the sheer scale of the grounds reflects that importance. The wide gravel paths and towering wooden gates make for a grand entrance that is perfect for a casual stroll. Everything here is beautifully maintained, with the simple and elegant architecture standing out against the lush green forest that surrounds the entire complex. One of the best parts is the huge pond where you can watch the ducks and just enjoy the quiet atmosphere. Unlike some of the busier tourist spots, this shrine has a very open and relaxed feel. It is a fantastic place to soak in some deep history while enjoying a bit of fresh air and natural beauty.

I visited the Fujiwara Palace Site, where the contrast between the cherry blossoms and canola flowers is simply breathtaking! The Fujiwara Palace Site (Fujiwara-kyuseki) is a historical landmark located in Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture, that served as the center of Japan's first full-scale capital, "Fujiwara-kyo." Today, it is a vast open plain with only the earthen base of the Daigokuden (Great Audience Hall) remaining, but it is beloved as a scenic spot showcasing spectacular seasonal flower blooms. Right now (early April), roughly 1.4 million canola flowers are in full bloom. The surrounding cherry blossoms also typically peak around this time of year, allowing you to enjoy a vibrant contrast of yellow and pink. Available from late March 2026, a CG restoration app allows visitors to use their smartphones and other devices to recreate the magnificent palace of the past. As a component of the "Asuka-Fujiwara Archaeological Sites of Japan’s Ancient Capitals," it is aiming for World Heritage registration in 2026 (Reiwa 8). Location: Takadono-cho, Kashihara City, Nara Prefecture Admission: Free Access: Take the community bus from Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station and get off at "Fujiwara-kyuseki" (Fujiwara Palace Site); it's right by the bus stop. Parking: Available (Free)

When you think of Nara, you think of the Great Buddha and deer 🦌, but if you stroll along the ancient Yamabe Road, you'll encounter historical sites, including place names that appear in the Kojiki and Manyoshu, as well as numerous legends. 🪨 The Fairfield by Marriott in Tenri is a hotel attached to a roadside station.
