The suspension walkway leads to a viewing platform extending over the valley below. Although it looks exciting, it's well designed and suitable for most visitors, making it a fun experience for both adults and older children. 🍴 Lunch with a View We had lunch at Berggasthaus First, located beside the children's playground. The outdoor terrace offers fantastic mountain views, while the playground makes it an enjoyable stop for families travelling with young children. It was a relaxing place to recharge before continuing our day. 🚠 Return to Grindelwald After lunch, we spent more time enjoying the scenery before taking the gondola back to Grindelwald. If you come to Switzerland in spring, come here. Come when the grass has turned impossibly green, but the peaks still wear their final layers of snow. When waterfalls run louder with meltwater, and wooden chalets sit between two seasons at once — winter lingering above, summer rehearsing below. Grindelwald feels suspended between contrasts. Cowbells echo softly across open pastures while glaciers remain visible in the distance, cold and unmoving. Alpine flowers begin appearing along walking paths that, only weeks earlier, belonged entirely to snow. Even without any editing, the photo feels unrealistically wonderful If you have a chance, definitely go to the Whirst Observation Deck.

#worthitornot Uetliberg is Zurich’s house mountain, and the Planet Trail (Planetenweg) is the best way to experience it. I took the S10 train directly from Zurich HB to Uetliberg station (20 mins, CHF 6.80). From the station, instead of just looking at the view, I walked the Planet Trail towards Felsenegg. This 3km trail scales the solar system down to 1:1 billion. Each planet has a plaque. By the time you reach Saturn, you’ve reached the Felsenegg viewpoint. The tower there costs CHF 4 to climb, but the view from the top is arguably better than the main Uetliberg lookout because it’s less obstructed by trees. On a clear day, you see the Bernese Alps, including the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. I packed a picnic—buying food on the mountain is limited to a small kiosk with overpriced sandwiches (CHF 9). I brought a "Bürli" (Zurich bread roll) and some cheese from the Migros downtown. One important tip: the weather on the summit changes fast. I started in a t-shirt and ended up buying a cheap fleece at the kiosk because the wind picked up. Many hikers miss the turn-off for the Planet Trail and stick to the paved road; stay on the dirt path for the true hiking experience. I packed a picnic of local Solothurner Torte (€6) and bought fresh cheese from a herder tending cows on the slope (€12/kg, cash only). The views are the star: on one side, the Mittelland plains stretch to the horizon; on the other, the Bernese Alps rise in a wall of ice and rock.
