Epic History Unlocked: Discovering St. George’s Church in Pliasheva 🇺🇦⛪️
Welcome to St. George’s Church—a low-key legend and must-see spot in Pliasheva, Rivne Oblast, Ukraine. If you love epic stories, insane architecture, or just snapping jaw-dropping pics, this masterpiece is THE place.
Quick Facts for Your Bucket List:
Address: St. George’s Church, Pliasheva village, Rivne Oblast, Ukraine (inside the National Historical and Cultural Reserve "Cossack Graves," AKA Field of the Battle of Berestechko Reserve)
Opening Hours: Generally 9:00 am – 6:00 pm, but services/holidays might change times so check ahead if you’re planning a visit.
Why It Slaps:
Main Cathedral Vibes: St. George’s Church is the spiritual core of the St. George Men's Monastery, and pretty much the heart of the entire reserve.
Backstory That Hits Different: Built from 1910–1914, this church honors the mind-blowing bravery of the thousands of Ukrainian Cossacks and peasants who fell at the 1651 Battle of Berestechko—one of the wildest moments in Ukraine’s National Liberation War. History buffs, welcome to paradise.
That Architecture Though: Prepare to be floored! St. George’s is all about Ukrainian Baroque drama, topped with a *game-changing* open-air facade iconostasis (check out that archway!). It was designed so TENS of thousands outside could tune into services happening inside—imagine a cathedral built for the ultimate livestream.
Three Levels of Wow: This isn’t just a single-chapel situation—there are three tiers, each with a different vibe. Dip down to the underground crypt and you’ll find a chilling, yet awe-inspiring glass sarcophagus holding the remains of those legendary Cossack warriors. Can you say goosebumps?
Pro Tips:
Dress modestly—this is a sacred spot!
Don’t skip the outdoor main square, especially if you love wild panoramic shots.
If you catch a ceremony with all the clergy? That’s an IG Reel you’ll never delete.
Feeling those historic hero vibes yet? If you want an adventure that hits you in the feels AND your camera roll, St. George’s Church is a must-add to your Ukraine travel plans. Check more deets or book your trip through trip.com and get ready to step into Ukrainian legend!

Tunnel of love
#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
A nickname in Ukraine. The Tunnel of Love.
It may be difficult to get there now, but the base cities are Lviv or Rivne.
I stayed in Rivne, the closest, since I was visiting in the morning.
In summer, it turns this green, but I hear it's beautiful in autumn.

[Ukraine] Will your love blossom if you visit the "Tunnel of Love"?
The Tunnel of Love, known as a lovers' sanctuary, is located on the outskirts of Lviv in western Ukraine.
It looks like an abandoned railway line, but it is actually an active railway line where freight cars run several times a day.
When a freight car passes by, many people approach the tracks to take photos, so the conductor yells "Get out of the way!" along with his horn.
This place is known worldwide as a lovers' sanctuary, and it is said that if you visit as a couple, your love will come true.
Anyway, there were only couples and families there...
It feels a little awkward to visit alone.
Admission is free.
There is a snack and souvenir shop at the entrance, and there are also stalls run by locals.
There is also something like a small visitor's center in the parking lot.
By the way,
At first glance, it looks like a picturesque green world, but in reality it is a den of countless mosquitoes! ! !
It's so intense that you'll run into a swarm of mosquitoes.
I'm taking pictures at the risk of my life! (lol)
Insect repellent is essential
Still, the spectacular view was worth the trouble
For the time being, Ukraine is difficult to visit due to security and emotional reasons, but I hope you will visit once things have settled down
This is 'Tunnel of Love', which is also called a sanctuary for lovers, located in Klevan, Rivne, Ukraine. It's not a dead track, but an officially alive railway for freight vehicle passing through 2-3times a day.
It looks super amazing, but honestly speaking, it's a mosquito-infested forest in fact.
