Every winter may be a little special because Covid has kept us at home for a long time. When we came out to Europe to study Hungarian, we felt that this year's Christmas was more beautiful and warmer than ever. There was a small Christmas market selling wine and handmade products. It's the perfect season to visit various museums because the weather is cold. Anyone who has been to Europe may think of Vienna, but unfortunately Vienna has canceled the event this year and announced a lockdown. Favourite specialty coffee place in Budapest so far. Everything was spot on. Own light roasts extracted just right, hitting that sweetness spot. Didn’t have any food but the menu looked very attractive as well. cozy coffee/tea shop that has a small but great quality menu. The vibe was very comfortable and chill. I ordered a filtered coffee from Ethiopia (they had choices from Guatemala, Ethiopia, and El Salvador for coffee) and my friend had a white tea. We both enjoyed our selections. Amazing coffee. It was the right temperature and naturally sweet. If you are a coffee purist then you will love this place! No sugar signs pretty much everywhere, which is how coffee should be. It was like a time machine—Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque… every turn brought a new surprise. ✨ Golden Lane felt magical—legend has it that alchemists used to live there. I even ran into a guy dressed like a wizard trying to tell my fortune 😅… I ran off real quick. 🦴 The Sedlec Ossuary (Bone Church) sounds creepy, but the bone decorations were so artistically arranged that they actually looked beautiful and delicate—more like fine art than anything spooky. 🏰 Český Krumlov The castle was like something out of a fairy tale. From the tower, you could see red-roofed houses and the winding Vltava River below—it was picture perfect! We were chasing pigeons by the river and almost bumped into an old lady feeding bread crumbs—chaotic but hilarious 😂 🍺 Pilsner Brewery We toured the whole beer-making process, and got to sample freshly brewed beer at the end! One of my friends got a bit tipsy and insisted on posing with the brewing tanks—those photos still crack us up. 📍Austria 🎶 Hallstatt This is the actual filming location for The Sound of Music! The lake was so clear we could see fish swimming around. We tried singing the movie songs by the water but were hilariously off-key 😂 🏛️ Schönbrunn Palace The gardens were massive! Fountains, sculptures, flowerbeds… it felt like a maze. Our legs were dying, but the beauty was totally worth it. 📍Hungary ⛪ Fisherman's Bastion So stunning and photogenic! We grabbed coffees at the nearby Starbucks, sat in the sun, and just soaked in the views of the beautiful architecture and the people passing by. It was such a relaxing moment ☕🌞 Literally every photo looked like a postcard! 🌍 This trip was by far my favorite getaway of the year! If you are looking for a 4-star hotel with breakfast included at a reasonable price in the early 100,000 won range, this is the place to go. I was worried because the room size was less than 10 pyeong, but in reality, the space except for the bed was quite spacious, and especially the storage space was well-equipped, which was even better. But what was most impressive was the kindness of the front desk staff. The staff greeted me warmly with a smile, and when I asked if it was my first time in Budapest, they kindly gave me detailed tourist tips and information, which helped me get rid of my anxiety about my first trip. I heard that the entire city of Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a World Heritage Site, so I decided to visit on impulse, and it was a great decision! The security situation is calm and the prices are low, which was appreciated by Japanese people, and just walking around is really fun! Beautiful! There is a magical charm that cannot be captured in photos. Especially when walking at night, you can see many enchanting views. What I thought was good was that the tourist spots are contained within the city. You can easily get around using public transportation such as buses and trains. Whether it is profitable depends on how much you use it, but the 24-hour pass issued by BKK (public transportation in Budapest) was convenient. (I stayed about 3 days, so I bought a 72-hour pass) There were many situations where the payment method specific to the local railway was difficult, so it was difficult to prepare the correct ticket every time. Also, I had the impression that there were few crew members who could speak English, so I felt that it was efficient to show the unlimited ride pass. I was able to buy the ticket from a ticket vending machine near the bus stop at Budapest Airport (Ferrenc Liszt International Airport), so I was able to use it as soon as I arrived at the airport. (Please check carefully as there were flights that I was told I could not board with this ticket) There were many times when communication was difficult in Hungary, where Hungarian is the main language, but the local people tried to understand me somehow and I felt the warmth of their people. #JapanFlightEvent Budapest, which I visited during Christmas, was a place filled with romance everywhere :) The streets were filled with red props, so it was hard to take my eyes off them as I walked ㅠㅠ There was no romance in Europe in the winter, but thanks to the Christmas season, I was able to fill it up with romance! Crows, which are loved in Hungary, can be found everywhere on signs, so try to find your own crow sign! ㅋㅋㅋ
