Located at the southeastern end of Lake Como, Lecco is a beautiful lakeside city surrounded by dramatic mountains, historic streets, and stunning views over the water. Unlike the smaller villages around the lake, Lecco has a more local and lively atmosphere, making it a great place to experience everyday life in Lombardy while still enjoying the incredible scenery of Lake Como. 🏔️🌿 ✨ Things to do in Lecco: · 🚶 Walk along the lakeside promenade and enjoy views of the lake framed by the Resegone mountain · 🏛️ Explore the historic center, including Piazza Cermenati and the Basilica of San Nicolò with its iconic bell tower · ⛴️ Take a boat ride to discover other towns around Lake Como from a different perspective · 🌅 Visit viewpoints around the city for beautiful sunsets over the lake and mountains · 🚴 Enjoy outdoor activities nearby, from easy lakeside walks to cycling routes and mountain trails 💡 Travel tips: · 🚆 Lecco is one of the easiest Lake Como destinations to reach from Milan, with direct trains taking around 40 minutes · 🚗 It is a great starting point for exploring the eastern side of Lake Como, including Varenna, Bellano, and other scenic areas · 📅 For the best experience, visit on a clear day when the mountains create the most impressive backdrop · 🍝 Don’t leave without trying local Lombardy dishes, especially lake fish specialties and traditional polenta Lecco may not have the postcard-famous reputation of towns like Bellagio or Varenna, but its combination of mountain scenery, lake views, and authentic Italian atmosphere makes it a wonderful stop for travelers exploring Lake Como. 🇮🇹✨ #lecco #lakecomo #lombardy #italytravel #lakecomoexperience #italianlakes #roadtripitaly #visititaly #scenicspotguide #unforgettableexperiences

Spent a beautiful sunny day in Lecco 🌞 — and trust me, this little gem has major vibes if you’re into modern architecture, outdoor chill spots, and local culture! Let’s talk about Circolo Acli Campaniletto Lecco nestled at Via Gaetano Previati, 21 (open most days till evening), where you can mingle with locals and soak up real Italian atmosphere. Top Spots to Visit: - Circolo Acli Campaniletto Lecco: It’s a lounge-style community hub, perfect for enjoying a cozy coffee or casual aperitivo surrounded by contemporary buildings and artistic touches. The outdoor area is super inviting after the rain — there’s nothing like seeing the city sparkle in the sun! My Insider Tip 🔎: Snap a pic of the dramatic contrast between shiny tour buses, modern high-rise edges, and classic Italian street style. Don’t rush: spend time wandering the nearby streets, as the local vibe here is peak Lecco — laidback and authentic. Getting Around: Lecco is walkable, but for a quick ride across town, local buses are easy to use and scenic. After a rain shower, the city smells fresh and looks photogenic, so grab your camera! Eat Like a Local: Try a cappuccino and a pastry at the bar inside Circolo Acli or head to nearby cafes on Via Gaetano Previati for fresh focaccia and gelato. Quick Tips: No visa needed for most EU travelers, just keep some euros handy. Pack light layers — weather can shift from sunny to brief showers! #LeccoVibes #ModernItaly #TravelTips #UrbanChic #tripdotcom

We used this service for the first time for our trip from Bergamo Airport to Lecco and back a week later. I was initially worried about everything going smoothly, but it all went perfectly. Communication with the driver was good and timely, and the driver himself was excellent. We will definitely use this service again!

A few days ago, we visited Piazza Belgiojoso once again (this is the correct spelling), to attend the ceremony celebrating five years since the inauguration of the monument dedicated to Cristina Trivulzio Belgiojoso (see reviews). Besides the monument, the square, which is still partially privately owned, features three historical buildings: Palazzo Belgiojoso, Palazzo Besana, and the house of Alessandro Manzoni (see reviews on all three). It’s a lovely square, with the private section still retaining its original cobblestones and the "sito Belgiojoso" inscriptions engraved throughout. Unfortunately, cars are allowed to pass through the public section. Nonetheless, it’s definitely worth a visit!

For four days, we spent our time driving along Lake Como, surrounded by stunning Alpine mountain views. The sunlight reflecting off the water's surface in the mornings and evenings created a particularly beautiful and enchanting scene. Along the way, we passed through many small villages, stopping to admire the scenery, strolling along the lake, and experiencing the simple way of life of the people in each town. The pastel-colored houses lining the lakeside added to the lake's charm. Each town had its own unique character and atmosphere, making the journey interesting every step of the way. For us, Lake Como was another route that offered fun and excitement throughout. Every curve and every village we drove through offered different scenery, making the drive around the lake anything but boring. Caution: The road around the lake is quite narrow, in some sections very narrow, with numerous continuous curves, including some steep and sharp turns. Drivers should exercise extra caution, especially during holidays or peak season when traffic is heavy. Also, parking in each town is limited and usually costs money.

When people think of Lake Como, they often picture Bellagio, Varenna or Como. But on the southeastern branch of the lake, Lecco offers a completely different experience — and it deserves much more attention. ✨ Surrounded by dramatic Alpine mountains and sitting right on the shores of Lake Como, Lecco combines spectacular nature with authentic Italian city life. 🌊🏔️ Take a walk along the lakeside promenade, explore the historic center, enjoy an espresso in one of the cafés and simply admire the mountains rising directly behind the city. The atmosphere feels relaxed and local, especially compared with some of the lake’s more famous destinations. 🥾 For nature lovers, Lecco is also an excellent starting point for hiking in the surrounding mountains. The iconic Resegone dominates the skyline, while trails around the area offer incredible panoramic views over the lake and the Alps. 📸 My tip: visit around sunset and walk along the waterfront. As the mountains turn golden and the lake becomes perfectly calm, you understand why this corner of Lombardy is so special. ❤️ If you’re exploring northern Italy, don’t just pass through Lecco on your way to Lake Como’s famous villages. Stop here and discover its quieter, more authentic side. 👉 Would you choose Lecco over the more famous towns of Lake Como? #Lecco #LakeComo #Lombardy #Italy #HiddenItaly #NorthernItaly #ItalianLakes #LakeComoItaly #VisitItaly #ItalyTravel #TravelItaly #OffTheBeatenPath #Tripcom

We arrived in Milan on July 18 with an EF agent waiting for us and were transferred to our hotel in Lecco, where we met our tour guide, Stephania. Meeting the group for the first time at 6:30 PM was perfect. Traveling through Italy by bus, visiting Lake Como, Venice, Florence, Assisi, Sorrento, and Rome, was an excellent way to experience the country for the first time. Though there were some rough moments due to my age, my wife and I managed well as we keep ourselves physically fit. Our tour guide was truly amazing, and I strongly recommend her. Enzo, our bus driver, was excellent, very courteous, and ensured a safe journey. The trip was well-organized, and I wouldn’t change the schedule. The hotels were superb and conveniently located. We especially appreciated the laundromat next to our Florence hotel. With a heat wave comparable to our Florida climate, the pools were a welcome feature. Stephania and the other guides were extremely knowledgeable. My wife and I loved walking through all the cities we visited, with Rome standing out as a particular highlight. It was an outstanding trip, and I absolutely recommend it.

Excellent hotel! I really liked the location. The room was clean and fresh, with everything you need. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent, and you could sit outside at a table overlooking the bridge.

Trekking the full loop of Lake Garlate (Lago di Garlate) is the ultimate way to experience the industrial and natural soul of the Adda Valley. Just south of Lecco, this 18km circuit is a journey through Manzoni’s landscapes, where the mountains seem to dip their toes directly into the water. I spent my day on the Ciclabile dei Laghi, a well-paved path that keeps the lake on one side and the dramatic peaks of Mount Resegone on the other. Crossing the Ponte Azzone Visconti felt like walking through history, while the stretch through the Olginate wetlands offered a sudden, quiet burst of nature. Whether I was stopping for a quick espresso in the sleepy village of Pescate or admiring the silk-making history at the Abbadia Cerchiari, the constant lake breeze made every kilometer feel effortless. It’s a rhythmic, scenic challenge that rewards you with ever-changing views of the Lecco skyline. #italy #travel2026 #thingstodo #travel2026

A short trip to lake Como. We stayed in a Lecco hostel and as such used Lecco as our base, spending a day in Lecco alone - then the next in Como/Nesso. I found Lecco to be a quieter alternative to Como with it being less touristy and just as beautiful, would very much recommend. However of course, Como itself was unreal. Nesso (a small village along the coast of the lake) was just the icing on the cake with its famous bridge you just have to jump off. #travel #como #italy
