Lake Constance refers to three bodies of water on the Rhine River located at the northern foot of the Alps: Upper Lake Constance, Lower Lake Constance and a lake connected to the Rhine called the Seerhine. These bodies of water are located in the Lake Constance basin in the Alpine foreland, through which the Rhine River flows. Lake Constance has a circumference of 273 kilometers, of which only 18 kilometers are in the small town of Lindau in Bavaria, Germany. It is also part of Germany's western border. Lindau borders the Austrian town of Hörbranz. The maximum depth of Lake Constance is 251.14 meters and the average depth is 90 meters. From the video, we can see that the water in the forest trail is very shallow, and the little girl can stand firmly. However, the Germans are really generous and actually let a child go into the water alone. #greentourism #germanytravel #overseastravel #hotsummerdestinations #lakes #deutschland #bodensee #bavaria

#backpacking2026 Start from London with 2 aged of 70+ journey with train and buses. Spending 3 weeks in summer we meet the heat wave. This experience would never be forgotten because the transport i ride should be with air conditioning but absolutely not in the 40+ Celsius, experience with traffic jam so we use portable electric fans but.... THE AIR BLOWED OUT IS HOT LIKE Hair DRYER. The stay wasn't satisfied because there was no air conditioning either. After London to Paris the next trip to Netherlands. We pretty much like to stay longer since summer felt cool and windy with nice scenery of windmills and riverside views and the cute colourful buildings and the red light culture with carless street. In German it is quite huge country, but just pick cologne and Munich and choose to come out in the evening time since summer with heat wave. There is a small tips before Neushcwanstein castle, better stay Fussen which is small culture village and things was cheaper. After the Disney Castle 🏰 Neushcwanstein, we plan to buy 3 days unlimited train tickets in Switzerland. Before get in from German , we stop by to fish village Lindau. Switzerland scenic view wasn't forgotten too. Greenery mountain with iceberg. Finally enter Italy is the last part , at first Venice is a must to stay longer for the handbag and food. Then Florence , Rome and Vertican. I'm happy to travel with my mum and sis and my cousin, the happy moments is we have the best scenery together.

Lindau Harbor, Bavaria, Germany, Seepromenade, 88131 Lindau. The train station is called Lindau-Insel and is located on the island; it's a three-minute walk from the station to the harbor. Open all day, no ticket required. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for Lindau; I thought it was just another lakeside town. But after getting off the train and walking a few steps toward the harbor, I looked up and saw a 33-meter-tall lighthouse standing on the left and a 6-meter-tall Bavarian stone lion crouching on the right. The two stood guard at the harbor entrance, with the waters of Lake Constance and the Alps in the distance behind them. That view is definitely worth stopping for a while. The lion was completed in 1856 along with the lighthouse. It's made of stone, faces the lake, and has its mouth slightly open, looking like it just woke up. The lighthouse is at Hafenplatz 1 and you can go up to the top to see the entire harbor and the lake. It was windy the afternoon I went, and a row of people were sitting by the lake—some local old men fishing, and some young people sitting on the embankment with beer bottles, dangling their feet over the water. A quick note on transportation: It takes about two hours by train from Munich, and it's cost-effective to split a Bavaria Ticket if you're traveling in a group. Car traffic is restricted on the island; if you're driving, park in the lot on the mainland side and it's just a few minutes' walk across the bridge to the island. The island itself is small and best explored on foot, so wear flat shoes. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the pedestrian zone on the island. There will be commemorative events on September 13, and roads around Bismarckplatz and Reichsplatz will be closed for the festivities. This year, a temporary sandbox with a sea view was set up next to the Mangturm tower on the west side of the harbor for children to play in, complete with umbrellas and greenery. A few practical tips: It's best to visit the harbor around 4:00 or 5:00 PM, when the light hits the lighthouse and the lion, giving them the warmest colors. Sightseeing boats depart from the harbor for tours around Lake Constance; if you want to take one, just check the schedule at the pier. Don't eat at the harbor restaurants; walk a bit toward the old town, where there are many small eateries on Maximilianstraße with reasonable prices. Lindau is the starting point of the "Alpine Road," so if you're driving, you can head south from here, with mountains and lakes all along the way. I sat at the harbor until it started to get dark, and the lion was just a silhouette in the twilight. The locals nearby gradually left, and an old lady walked slowly past me with her dog. The dog looked at me, but didn't bark.

Perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle, leisurely stroll and savor delicious food, and capture heartwarming photos. Bring your camera, wear comfortable shoes, and come here to bring a fairytale to life—Lindao.

It's a picturesque Bavarian town located on an island in Lake Constance (Bodensee). Famed for its medieval old town and stunning Alpine backdrop, the island features Germany's southernmost lighthouse, a historic harbor, and lively streets that blend centuries-old Bavarian architecture with a Mediterranean vibe. Key highlights are the following: The Harbor Entrance: The port is guarded by two famous landmarks built in the 1850s: the 36-meter-tall lighthouse (the only one in Bavaria) and a striking 6-meter-tall Bavarian Lion statue. Maximilianstraße: The heart of the old town, this cobblestone pedestrian street is lined with beautifully preserved 16th- and 17th-century patrician houses, boutique shops, and cafes. Historical Buildings: Notable sites include the 15th-century Old Town Hall (Altes Rathaus) with its ornate frescoes and the 12th-century Mangturm, which formerly served as a defense tower. I loved the architecture there. I visited the town several times. #island #townhall #travel #citycenter #church #harbor

#winterescape Have you ever seen a town surrender its keys to a mob of laughing witches and colorful "fools"? Welcome to Wangen im Allgäu, where the ancient tradition of Narrenbaumstellen (the raising of the Fool’s Tree) kicks off the wild "fifth season"! In 2026, the historic Marktplatz transforms into a medieval spectacle. Watch as the massive, decorated tree is hoisted by hand, signaling that the "fools" are officially in charge. It’s a riot of hand-carved masks, snapping whips, and the rhythmic chant of "Schelle, Schelle—Schellau!" If you want to experience the authentic soul of Southern Germany, this is the heartbeat of the Allgäu! Fasnet Survival Guide · Transportation: Reach Wangen via train (DB) from Lindau or Munich. During the festival, the Old Town is car-free; park at the P1 or P2 lots outside the gates and enjoy the 5-minute walk. · Best Time to Travel: February 11–17, 2026. The Narrenbaumstellen happens on Wednesday (Feb 11), leading up to the massive Narrensprung parade on Rosenmontag (Feb 16). · Must-Visit Spots: The Marktplatz for the tree-raising, the iconic Frauentor gate, and the Häge-Schmiede for local satire and a warm Glühwein. · Suggested Itinerary: · Day 1: Watch the tree go up at 7:00 PM on the Marktplatz. · Day 2: Explore the Museum in der Badstube to learn about mask-carving history. · Day 3: Join the Narrensprung parade and catch some "Brezgen" (pretzels)! · Do’s & Don’ts: * DO shout back the local greeting "Schelle, Schelle—Schellau!" when a fool approaches you. · DON'T wear a cheap store-bought mask; in this tradition, masks are sacred, hand-carved wooden heirlooms! #WangenImAllgäu #Narrenbaumstellen #Fasnet2026 #VisitGermany #TraditionMatters

Heading south from Munich: a trip to slow down time When we picked up my parents from the plane in Munich, the city still carried a bit of that German precision. This time, I wanted my parents to relax and enjoy the countryside, rather than just rushing through tourist spots. So, we headed south, where forests, mist, streams, and lakes became our everyday scenery. The first stop was the Ritter Hotel in Orlendorf. The name sounds like a medieval story’s inn, but staying there felt more like hitting a “pause button” for those escaping the city. Outside the window was a quiet village, the roads were peaceful, the breeze gentle, and even time seemed to move cautiously. If you’re a fan of RV camping, this place is definitely one of the holy lands. Nearby, the Erwin Hymer Museum is almost like a history of “making the road your home.” From the first simple camper to today’s fully equipped little mobile castles, looking at those vehicles, you can’t help but start dreaming: what if you just kept driving like this forever? After the museum, we went hiking at Atznberger Höhe. No trendy photo spots, no crowds—just countryside, gentle slopes, and cows leisurely grazing in the distance. When the wind blows over the grass, it suddenly makes you realize—doing “nothing at all” can feel so justified. Continuing south into the Allgäu region, the real vacation mode began. We stayed in a farm holiday house, and every morning when we opened the door, we could drink freshly milked milk and eggs so fresh they seemed still warm. The quiet here isn’t “boring,” but a gentle healing, making even your breath deeper. Not far from the farm is a ski resort. In winter, the slopes are covered in white snow; in summer, it’s a paradise for hiking and forest trails. Walking into the Alpine forest paths, dappled shadows, layered distant mountains, every step feels like stepping into a painting. You don’t need to take photos on purpose because your eyes are already overwhelmed. Further south, the forest trails lead to a small town on a lake, bordering Austria and Switzerland. Lake Constance’s water is as calm as a mirror, reflecting mountains, clouds, and the part of you that doesn’t want to return to reality. The best part—you can even take a boat directly to Switzerland. No ceremony, no border tension, just a change of language while continuing to admire the same mountains and waters. This whole journey, from Munich to the Alps, from city to countryside, from planned to spontaneous, isn’t the kind of trip where you just “see and leave.” It’s one that, long after you’re home, suddenly on a busy afternoon, makes you remember the scent of the grass, the color of the lake, and that perfectly slow moment in time. If you ask me, what’s the most worthwhile part of this trip? Probably—it taught me once again how to truly live well.
