Lipu travel guide and discussion

I visited Yangshuo last month, and honestly, the memories are still fresh. 😍 Every turn seems to reveal another incredible view—crystal-clear rivers winding through the countryside, dramatic karst mountains rising from the mist, peaceful villages, and endless green landscapes. 🌿🏔️ If you love nature, slow travel, and beautiful scenery, Yangshuo feels like a dream. ✨ My Must-Do Yangshuo Route 🎋 Yulong River ⛰️ Xianggong Hill 🏘️ Xingping Ancient Town — famous for the landscape featured on the ¥20 banknote 🚲 Ten-Mile Gallery 🪨 Silver Cave (Yinziyan) 🌾 Jiuxian Ancient Village 💡 My Travel Tip Start early with a bamboo raft drifting along the Yulong River, explore the mountains and countryside during the day, head up to a viewpoint for sunset, and finish the day staying in an old village. It’s the perfect way to experience Yangshuo beyond the usual sightseeing—nature, local life, food, and a little bit of adventure. ✨ 🍜 Food You Shouldn’t Miss 🐟 Beer Fish — tender local fish cooked with beer and a rich, savory flavor. 🐌 Stuffed River Snails — snail meat mixed with minced pork and seasoned with local flavors. 🍜 Guilin Rice Noodles — fragrant, comforting and especially perfect for breakfast. 💫 My Most Unforgettable Moment Sunrise from Xianggong Hill. 🌅 As the morning mist slowly wrapped around the karst peaks, the first sunlight turned the mountains golden. For a few minutes, the whole landscape looked almost unreal. And then there were the quieter moments—sitting in Jiuxian Ancient Village, talking with local people and experiencing the simple rhythm of village life. ❤️ Yangshuo isn’t just somewhere you visit for the scenery. It’s somewhere you slow down, breathe deeply, and realize you want to stay a little longer. 🌿🇨🇳 #Yangshuo #GuilinTravel #ChinaTravel #TravelChina #NatureLovers #YangshuoTravel #Guilin #ChinaNature #ChinaHiddenGems #BeautifulChina

Deep beneath the mountains of Lipŭ, Guangxi, another world is waiting. Silver Cave stretches through a series of peaks in three underground levels, with a long network of paths leading through chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites and curtains of stone. Inside, the temperature stays around 22°C, making the cave a wonderfully cool escape from the summer heat. But the real attraction is the extraordinary landscape created over geological time. Under carefully placed illumination, the pale limestone formations seem to glow from within. Some resemble frozen waterfalls, others look like crystal branches, cascading curtains or strange trees sculpted from stone. Among the cave's signature formations are Snow Mountain Waterfall, Golden Basin Pine and Jade Tree & Jasper Branches — names that feel almost inevitable once you see the shapes rising from the darkness. Millions of years of geological processes have created what feels less like a cave and more like an underground palace. 📍 Silver Cave Scenic Area, Lipŭ, Guilin, Guangxi, China 🇨🇳 📸 Photography Tip: Use the illuminated formations as natural leading lines. A wider shot can reveal the scale of the chambers, while close-ups highlight the delicate textures of the stalactites and stone curtains. ✨ Signature Feeling: Walking into darkness and discovering a world shaped drop by drop over unimaginable time. Above ground is the landscape we know. Below it lies another world entirely.

Purchased tickets to Silver Cave through Trip.com, and from start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. The stalactites and stalagmites within the cave are absolutely stunning and aesthetically pleasing—their forms enhanced beautifully by colorful lighting throughout the chambers. The vibrant illumination creates mesmerizing effects, and on some cave walls, impressive images such as a firebird are projected, adding to the magic of the surroundings. Safety was clearly a priority in Silver Cave. The steps inside are not slippery, making it comfortable and secure to walk around. It was also reassuring to occasionally see staff members stationed along the route, always ready to assist if needed. The cave is kept at a comfortable temperature, thanks to an effective air conditioning system, which made exploring so much more pleasant. Occasionally, gentle Chinese music played in the background, enhancing the tranquil atmosphere. A particularly helpful touch is the audio guide available at the entrance, offered in both English and Chinese. This provided interesting insights as we moved through the cave's fascinating formations. For anyone considering a visit, I highly recommend Silver Cave. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes, and don’t forget your camera—there are so many breathtaking sights to capture. This is a wonderful attraction for travelers of all ages, with attentive service and a safe, welcoming environment. #realreview

I recommend going before 10 AM or after 4 PM. The cave is actually quite cool inside. I saw many people say it was stuffy, but it was actually fine. It only gets truly sweltering after you come out. It's quite suitable for kids. They give out audio guides at the entrance. I was too lazy to listen, but there was a cute little boy listening very attentively, and he was explaining it to his family as he listened. It was really heartwarming to see. Online tickets are only for adults; seniors and children can buy half-price tickets on-site. I didn't know that and bought 4 adult tickets. Fortunately, when I was redeeming the tickets, the staff let me cancel them and buy half-price tickets instead. Thumbs up for that. There really aren't many places to eat, and the food isn't that great. I suggest eating in Yangshuo instead.

⏱ August temperature and weather Temperature: 26℃ - 36℃ Weather: mostly sunny during the day, very high humidity, feels stuffy and hot, afternoon showers likely, rain makes the landscape clearer · 🙋 Guilin outfit tips 🧥 Tops: breathable short sleeves, tank tops, paired with a light sun protection jacket. Bright colors look great for mountain and river photos and bamboo rafting on the Li River 👖 Bottoms: cotton or linen long skirts, casual shorts. Avoid heavy denim and tight, non-breathable pants 🥾 Others: non-slip flat shoes, sun hat, sunglasses, essential to bring a sun/rain umbrella and mosquito repellent · ✅ Avoid crowded routes 📍 Arrive at Elephant Trunk Hill by 7:40 AM to enter early and avoid tour groups ✔ Morning: Guilin city attractions ➊ Elephant Trunk Hill: stroll along the riverside path and take photos at the classic Guilin city emblem spot ➋ After the tour, visit Dongxi Alley and Xiaoyao Building to experience the old town’s lively atmosphere ➌ Escape the midday heat by visiting the cave scenic area. Old alleys in the city and small shops on Yangshuo old street offer more genuine tastes ✅ Beer fish is Yangshuo’s signature dish, with tender, flavorful fish meat that pairs perfectly with rice ✅ For Guilin rice noodles, choose dry noodles topped with pickled long beans and peanuts, the local standard way to eat · ⚠ Key tips for visiting Guilin!! Tip ①: Special forces-style one-day tours are not recommended. Always carry mosquito repellent Tip ⑤: Don’t trust low-priced bamboo rafting or one-day tours offered roadside; they usually have hidden fees ·

Yangshuo was easily one of the most beautiful places we visited in China. ⛰️✨ It’s around 70km from Guilin, so getting there by taxi without pre-booking can get surprisingly expensive, but once you arrive, it’s absolutely worth it. We explored the incredible Silver Cave, hiked up Xianggong Mountain for sunrise, experienced the complete chaos of West Street, and then happily escaped to the quieter parts of town to try some of the local food. The dramatic karst mountains are everywhere you look and served as the most beautiful, almost magical backdrop to our few days here. Yangshuo can be busy and touristy in places, but venture away from the crowds and it really is something special. 💚 📍 Yangshuo (阳朔), Guilin, Guangxi, China

I originally thought Guilin would just be sunny and hot, so I packed a bunch of tank tops, short skirts, and high heels. But once I got there, I found that caves are cold, bamboo rafting gets you wet, and walking on stone paths rubs your feet raw. Most of my clothes and shoes were useless, so I ended up carrying them for nothing 😭 🌡️Travel tips Daytime temperatures are relatively high but not stuffy. Afternoon showers are common. It’s cool near the water and forest edges. UV rays are strong. ▫️What to wear: breathable short sleeves with long pants or a long skirt. Bring a sun-protective shirt. Add a light jacket for caves. ▫️Essentials: high SPF sunscreen, sun and rain umbrella, waterproof phone pouch, mosquito repellent, comfortable flat shoes. ▫️Daily rhythm: explore mountains and water in the morning, rest indoors or at the hotel at noon, stroll the city and enjoy the night view in the evening. 🏨Accommodation options 📍Near Two Rivers and Four Lakes in downtown Guilin | top choice! Close to Elephant Trunk Hill and East-West Alley. Perfect for evening walks and night views. 📍Around West Street in Yangshuo | great for those who want to soak up Yangshuo’s vibe. Convenient for shopping and dining, with many guesthouse options. 📍Along Yulong River | ideal for those who prefer a quiet, pastoral setting. Open your window to mountains and water in a peaceful environment. 📸Photo spots by time of day ▫️7:00 AM–10:00 AM Elephant Trunk Hill | soft morning light, fewer people, great for photos. The riverside reflections are especially photogenic. Li River cruise | early morning mist on the river makes the landscape look like an ink painting. Enjoy the scenic Hundred-Mile Gallery. ▫️11:30 AM–4:00 PM Silver Cave | constant temperature in the teens Celsius. Instant coolness inside. The stalactite wonders are breathtaking. Downtown alleys | try Guilin rice noodles and marinated snacks. Local shops offer authentic flavors at good prices. ▫️After 4:30 PM Yulong River bamboo raft | soft afternoon light. Drift on the river surrounded by mountains and pastoral scenery. East-West Alley + Xiaoyao Building | charming and historic after lights come on. Perfect for strolling and dining. ▫️Yangshuo day trip Morning bamboo rafting on Yulong River, afternoon electric scooter ride through the Ten-Mile Gallery, evening stroll and night view on West Street. 🍜Must-try foods Guilin rice noodles, osmanthus jelly, water chestnut cake — refreshing and light. Yangshuo beer fish — fish soaked in rich, flavorful broth. Local sour wild vegetables — sweet, sour, and crunchy, especially appetizing in summer. 💡Tips to avoid pitfalls 1. Don’t eat rice noodles near tourist spots. Old shops in alleys are cheaper and more authentic. Remember to mix dry first, then drink the soup. 2. Yulong River bamboo rafting has multiple sections. Choose your river segment in advance and don’t go to the wrong dock. 3. Mosquitoes are common by the river and in bamboo groves. Avoid shorts and skirts if possible, and bring mosquito repellent. 4. Stone paths are many and slippery. Don’t wear high heels. Comfortable flat shoes are the way to go.

In August, you’ll be immersed in Yangshuo’s lush greenery 🌿. The hot, humid breeze carries mist from the Li River, making the temperature feel around 38℃. Frequent showers and intense UV rays add to the challenge 🥵. I stayed for four days and three nights. I’ll share tips on avoiding pitfalls, food, routes, and photo spots in a casual order—just read whichever part catches your eye~ 📸 Photo spots first Yangshuo doesn’t need filters. The Yulong River bamboo raft is always magical 🚣. From Jinlong Bridge to Jiuxian, passing Jiudaba, karst peaks rise straight from the water. On sunny days, the water reflects the mountains; on cloudy days, mist swirls around. Rent a small electric scooter to slowly cruise the Ten-Mile Gallery 🛵. Watching the sunset at Gongnong Bridge is stunning—the orange glow on the river can turn any passerby into the lead in a movie. Fuli Bridge is less crowded than Yulong Bridge, with the ancient bridge’s reflection perfectly mirrored in the clear water, peaceful and photogenic 📷. The popular trail at Xiatang Village, with rice fields and karst peaks, is full of storybook charm. Climb Xianggong Mountain to see the “first bend of the Li River.” Early morning, when the sea of clouds rolls in, the view is breathtaking ⛰️. At night, red lanterns light up West Street, and any alleyway frame feels cinematic. 🍜 Food recommendations Yangshuo beer fish is the signature dish 🐟. Fresh Li River fish stewed with Liquan beer results in tender, boneless fish with a slightly spicy, malty broth—perfect with rice! Always ask the price before ordering and weigh the fish. Be cautious of overpriced tourist traps at West Street entrances. Instead, explore alleys to find local spots with lines. Snail stuffing is a specialty among Yangshuo’s eighteen stuffed dishes. The snail meat is picked out, minced with pork and mint, then stuffed back into the shell and stewed. Sucking from the shell bursts with fresh, savory juice 🌀. For Guilin rice noodles, dry-mixed style is the way to go. Old city shops sell a small portion for just 5–6 yuan, while tourist areas charge over 10 yuan—just walk away. Also try Lipu taro pork, where the taro is more fragrant than the meat. Gongcheng oil tea is called “China’s coffee” and is a great morning pick-me-up ☕. For drinks, visit small rice field–side cafes like One Chi Rice Field and Murakami Coffee for effortless Instagram-worthy shots. 🗺️ Route planning I took a comfortable four-day, three-night trip, leaving early and returning late to avoid midday heat: Day 1 Arrive in Yangshuo. Rent an electric scooter in the afternoon to explore Ten-Mile Gallery. Watch the sunset at Gongnong Bridge. Dinner on West Street 🌃 Day 2 Early morning bamboo rafting on Yulong River (Jinlong Bridge to Jiuxian). Afternoon cycling Ten-Mile Gallery. Capture photos at Fuli Bridge. Day 3 Morning escape the heat at Silver Cave (around 18℃ inside, natural air conditioning ❄️). Afternoon stroll in Xingping Ancient Town, snap the 20 yuan RMB background, then bamboo rafting on the Li River from Yangdi to Xingping, the highlight section. Day 4 Watch sunrise or climb Xianggong Mountain in the morning. Leisurely return trip in the afternoon. Book bamboo raft tickets in advance through official platforms like Trip.com. Yulong River releases tickets for the next day at 8:00 PM daily during peak season—don’t miss out. Avoid roadside “wild horse” sellers offering cheap tickets; my friend got scammed with forced photo fees halfway through 🙅‍♀️. ⚠️ Pitfall tips In August, the three essentials for Yangshuo are high-SPF sunscreen, sun-protective clothing, and sunglasses—they’re lifesavers. Holey shoes or sandals are better than sneakers since bamboo rafting splashes water on your feet 👡. Electric scooter rentals at 30–40 yuan per day are reasonable. Record a video of the scooter’s condition before renting to document any scratches. Don’t leave your ID card as a deposit. Carry mosquito repellent and a folding umbrella. Afternoon showers come suddenly 🌧️. The Li River may suspend rafting if water levels rise—check conditions the day before. For lively accommodation, stay near West Street. For quiet, choose a guesthouse by the Yulong River with mountain views from your window. Book three to five days ahead during peak season. Xingping high-speed rail station is actually in Xingping Town—don’t buy tickets to Guilin West Station, which is farthest from the city. Choose to watch either Impression Liu Sanjie or Guilin Eternal Love; both are spectacular live mountain and water shows 🎭. August in Yangshuo is vibrant. With proper sun protection and avoiding crowds, this small town will reward you with endless greenery and river views ~🌊 📌 For bookings and tickets, use Trip.com for reliable service. Popular activities like Yulong River bamboo rafting, Li River cruises, and Impression Liu Sanjie can be booked in advance to skip lines and avoid hassle.

Guilin is beautiful, but I won’t go again😭 seriously don’t recommend! My honest travel experience Just got back from Yangshuo, Guilin, and here’s my most honest thought: Guilin’s landscape is truly world-class! Seeing it with my own eyes moved me to tears! Green mountains stretch endlessly, clear water surrounds the city, karst peaks look like paintings, and misty rain blurs the view. The gentle Li River, the healing Yulong River, the vast terraced fields, Every snapshot looks like wallpaper-worthy scenery. Everyone must see the textbook Guilin landscape in person at least once in their lifetime! But! Honestly: the scenery is perfect, but the travel experience is exhausting. After one visit, I completely see through it and won’t make a special trip again! I’ve compiled a comprehensive real experience + pitfall guide. Sisters planning to visit Guilin, please read this before you go!! 🌿 First, huge praise! Guilin’s beauty is truly unmatched No exaggeration or bashing, purely natural scenery—Guilin beats most popular cities hands down! ✅ Li River | textbook-level natural scenery Taking a boat on the Li River is incredibly soothing! The karst peaks on both sides are scattered, the clear water winds through, and mountains and water complement each other. Seeing the RMB 20 yuan scenic spot in person is truly breathtaking! On sunny days, the green mountains and clear water are transparent and clean. On rainy days, the misty Li River looks magical. Every frame is like an ink painting, healing all your fatigue. ✅ Yulong River | the gentlest hidden paradise on earth They say “Yulong River is the soul of Guilin.” The bamboo raft drifts slowly on the emerald river, with rice fields, ancient trees, and small bridges with flowing water on both sides. The breeze is super relaxing. Floating slowly feels like entering a fairyland. Gentle, quiet, and healing, it’s the most worthwhile experience in all of Guilin! ✅ Longji terraced fields | stunning and healing rural mountain sea The terraced fields layer from the foot to the top of the mountain. In spring, the water sparkles; in summer, the green stretches endlessly; in autumn, golden waves cover the fields. Standing on the viewing platform overlooking the whole mountain area is magnificent and healing. Photos come out amazing, the atmosphere is simply legendary! ✅ Elephant Trunk Hill | city landmark full of romance Guilin’s city card! Mountains and water embrace, Elephant Hill stands by the river, and you can see stunning scenery right in the city. Free to visit, wide views, and the evening light is gentle and romantic. ✅ Silver Cave | dreamy karst cave A magical natural cave with stalagmites, stalactites, and stone curtains in countless shapes. Under the lights, it’s crystal clear, like entering an underground fairyland. The whole visit is novel and impressive. Putting aside all the pitfalls, Guilin’s landscape is truly worth everyone’s journey! ❌ Why won’t I come back? Honest reasons to reconsider (all true) 1. Too many hidden traps! You have to be cautious the whole time, which is exhausting Guilin is a city with stunning scenery but many tricks! ❌ The worst tip trap on bamboo rafts Many raft workers on Yulong River hint at tips. If you don’t tip: they row fast, don’t stop for photos, avoid prime photo spots, and act indifferent. They may even rock the raft on purpose or rush you off! Many tourists feel forced to pay, ruining the whole mood. ❌ Don’t book cheap day tours Roadside and hotel front desks push 99 or 128 yuan cheap Guilin day tours. They look like a great deal but are full of shopping stops, rushed sightseeing, and constant hurrying. You only get about ten minutes at real attractions, spending most time in shops! ❌ Black-market taxis are rampant at the high-speed rail station and West Street Crowds of people solicit passengers with low prices. They add fees after you get in, take detours, and force you to visit shops. Tourists unfamiliar with the area are easy targets! ❌ Electric bike rentals have many traps Renting an electric scooter in Yangshuo is a must, but roadside private rentals: Overstate battery life, refurbish old bikes, run out of power mid-trip, and charge unfair fees on return. Many people end up pushing the bike or paying extra unexpectedly, which is very frustrating! 2. Attractions are very spread out! You spend the whole trip rushing Traveling in Guilin is really tiring. Guilin city: Elephant Trunk Hill, Two Rivers and Four Lakes Yangshuo: Yulong River, Ten-Mile Gallery, West Street, Li River Longsheng: Longji terraced fields (1.5+ hours one way on mountain roads) The three main areas are very far apart! You spend most of the day on the road with little actual sightseeing time. Constantly rushing, transferring, and traveling, there’s no relaxing vacation vibe! Non-driving travelers have it even worse: Slow buses, many transfers, expensive taxis, many black-market cars. Independent travel here is exhausting to the point of questioning life! 3. Summer rainy season is a terrible experience! Weather is brutal Visiting Guilin in July–August is really a matter of luck. ☀️ Sunny days are scorching and humid Southern sauna weather is extremely humid! You sweat after a few steps, sticky and hot, makeup melts, and photos suffer. Climbing, hiking, and bamboo rafting are all under intense sun, with a high risk of heatstroke. 🌧️ Rainy days ruin your plans Guilin’s rainy season has frequent showers! Sudden downpours, fog on the river, gray mountains and water. Bamboo rafts may stop running, terraced mountain roads get slippery, and photos are ruined. After traveling so far, you might get nothing but gray skies and no beautiful views! Mosquitoes are everywhere! The mountains and riversides have poisonous mosquitoes, and without repellent, you can’t enjoy the trip. 4. Food and lodging are overpriced with a high risk of disappointment ❌ Be cautious eating on West Street! The whole street is very repetitive, All beer fish and trendy snacks taste average and are overpriced. Many are pre-made dishes aimed at tourists; locals don’t eat them! ✅ Authentic food is in the old town and local alleys Shijiayuan and Tiexi Old Street have truly affordable and delicious options! ❌ Huge differences in lodging quality Popular homestays use deceptive photos! Prices double in peak season, poor soundproofing, damp and moldy, many mosquitoes, and reduced services. Cheap homestays have poor conditions, and expensive ones offer low value. 5. Many ineffective trendy spots, easy to get bored Guilin is selective! If you love landscapes, slow walks, and photography, you’ll love it. If you want lively entertainment and immersive experiences, it feels dull. Many trendy check-in spots are heavily artificial and not fun. Mostly just photo ops with no interaction or entertainment. After two days, it feels repetitive and boring. ✅ Suitable and unsuitable groups ✅ Very suitable Landscape lovers, photographers, laid-back travelers, couples relaxing, those who like quiet healing scenery, and long-term deep travelers. ❌ Not suitable Lazy vacationers, those who hate heat and mosquitoes, dislike tricks, hate rushing, seek high value, want easy short trips, or family-friendly easy travel. 📝 Complete Guilin pitfall guide (must-save for beginners) 1. Only buy official tickets for Yulong River bamboo rafts! Ignore and record video to complain if asked for tips. 2. Don’t book any cheap street tours or cheap boat rides! 3. Rent electric bikes only from official stores in Yangshuo! Check battery on the spot, take photos of the bike, and keep the receipt. 4. Only take official buses or ride-hailing cars at the high-speed rail station. Reject all soliciting black-market cars. 5. Navigate to Gate 3 at Elephant Trunk Hill! Enter directly for the best photo spots. Don’t go to Gate 1 by mistake. 6. Avoid eating on West Street’s main street. Eat in local residential areas for cheap and authentic food. 7. Visit Longji terraced fields early. The mountain road is far and time-consuming. Reserve a whole day. 8. Bring umbrella, sun protection, mosquito repellent, and change of clothes during rainy season. Weather is unpredictable. 💛 Final honest summary Guilin’s landscape is truly a gift from God! Green mountains and clear water, misty Jiangnan, poetic and picturesque. Everyone must see it once in their lifetime. It’s truly stunning, healing, and unforgettable. But! Too many tricks, harsh weather, exhausting travel, and tiring experience. It’s really only suitable for a “once-in-a-lifetime check-in.” The scenery is irreplaceable, but the travel experience makes it hard to come back for a second time😭

Just returned from Guilin | Really don’t recommend going in August or September‼️ Honest, unfiltered guide Just got back from Guilin! Honestly, I advise everyone not to rush to Guilin in August or September! It’s not that the scenery is bad, but it’s too easy to run into problems and the pace of travel is very demanding! Many people come straight here after seeing the ink-wash landscape photos online, only to be put off by the hot, humid weather, sudden showers, and long lines. But once you understand the patterns, you’ll find these two months are the peak of Guilin’s scenic beauty all year! The rainy season brings misty rain and lush greenery, and off-peak travel offers great value. This real, tested guide will help you avoid all the pitfalls✨ 🌧️ Guilin in August and September: the real situation (warnings and recommendations) Let’s be honest first: not for everyone! ❌ Reasons to avoid (for cautious travelers) 1. High heat and humidity: daytime feels hot and sticky, with intense midday sun making you sweat and feel uncomfortable. Not ideal for those sensitive to heat 2. Unpredictable weather: frequent afternoon thunderstorms often cause the Li River cruises and Yulong River bamboo rafts to be canceled, disrupting plans 3. Crowds in August: it’s the end of summer vacation, so popular spots and bamboo raft rides have long lines, and accommodation and dining prices are slightly higher ✅ Reasons to go (perfect for certain travelers) 1. Legendary scenery: the time of year with the fullest water levels! Rivers are clear and full, green mountains lush, and misty clouds after rain create a real-life ink-wash painting, far more beautiful than the dry season 2. Water activities: climb and play in Gudong Waterfall, cool off with Yulong River rafting—unique summer fun 3. Perfect off-peak in September: after school starts, crowds drop sharply, prices fall, no lines, and the weather gradually cools, making it very comfortable 4. Fresh local fruit: plenty of longan, mango, and Lipu taro sweet soup, all affordable, sweet, and refreshing 📅 3-day, 2-night easy itinerary (suitable for summer and autumn) Focus on staying indoors during the day and going out at night, avoiding midday sun and rain! Day 1 Guilin city | relaxed cultural stroll Arrive in the afternoon to rest and avoid the heat. In the evening, explore Dongxi Alley and Jingjiang Princes’ City, full of old street charm and great photo spots. At night, stroll along the Two Rivers and Four Lakes. The cool evening breeze and illuminated waterside views are soothing. No need for a boat ride; walking along the shore is enough to enjoy Guilin’s night scenery. Day 2 Yangshuo core | healing mountain and water fun Get up early to take the Yulong River bamboo raft! The morning temperature is comfortable, no heavy rain, and almost no lines. The shallow water and green mountains on both sides are gentle and healing, more intimate and relaxing than the Li River cruise. Return to the guesthouse at noon to rest and avoid the heat and thunderstorms. In the evening, visit the Ten-Mile Gallery, bike through the countryside, enjoy the sunset’s beautiful light and shadows, and capture wallpaper-worthy photos everywhere. Day 3 Xingping ancient town | scenic finale In the morning, visit Xingping ancient town and take photos at the 20-yuan RMB background spot. Fewer people make for better shots. Afterward, stroll by the river, watch the clear Li River water winding around green hills, and slowly soak in Guilin’s relaxed mountain and water vibe. Before leaving, enjoy an authentic beer fish and Guilin rice noodles meal to perfectly end the trip. ❌ Key pitfalls to avoid! A must-read for first-timers 1. Don’t book cheap one-day tours! They often include shopping stops, cut down sightseeing time, and rush you through the itinerary, ruining the experience 2. Always book bamboo raft rides and cruises in advance! Check weather notices on rainy days to avoid wasted trips due to cancellations 3. Don’t trust roadside guides or cheap car rentals to avoid hidden costs 4. Avoid hiking or outdoor activities at midday to prevent heatstroke 🎒 Essential packing list for August and September Sun and rain umbrella, high-SPF sunscreen, small fan, breathable clothes, mosquito repellent, and lightweight shoes to handle changing weather and humidity 💡 Final honest advice August in Guilin is romantic with misty rain and water fun; September is affordable, less crowded, and healing. If you dislike heat, hassle, or want a laid-back vacation, think twice; If you love mountains and water, want to travel off-peak, enjoy cool water activities, and seek great value, go for it without hesitation! Find the right rhythm, avoid the pitfalls, and late summer Guilin will definitely surprise you🌿

Yangshuo is a paradise for those tired of cities: karst peaks, cycling trails through fields, and a river gliding between cliffs. But many limit themselves to the bustling bar street. In vain! I've collected eight nearby spots worth stopping for. 1️⃣ Yulong River Road – a bike ride through peaks and rice fields. 💡 Fact: Bamboo rafting down the Yulong River is considered one of the most peaceful in China. 2️⃣ Moon Mountain – a rock with a crescent-shaped hole through it. 3️⃣ Xingping Village – its landscape is printed on the 20 yuan banknote. 💡 Fact: Locals proudly point out the spot from which they took the "very" view from the banknote. 4️⃣ Xingping Ancient Street – thousand-year-old alleys without the tourist trappings. 5️⃣ Big Banyan – a gigantic tree over 1,400 years old. 6️⃣ Silver Cave – sparkling stalactites in underground chambers. 7️⃣ Xianggong Viewpoint – the best panorama of the Li River bend at sunrise. 8️⃣ Guilin Longji Terrace nearby – rice steps in the mountains. And a tip: rent a bike or e-bike – the best views of Yangshuo are from the country roads between villages, not from the main street. And it's easy to find bike trails and viewpoints in advance, right in the app, using the map and reviews. Yangshuo is a slow journey where you want to breathe deeply. Turn off the bar street and into true beauty! This is the #ChinaOffRoute section — about places for the soul 👀 💾 Save before your trip. 📤 Send it to someone you want to go outdoors with. ✅ And subscribe — the megacity of Guangzhou is just around the corner! 💬 Honestly: a bike ride or a rafting trip — which would you choose in Yangshuo? Tell us in the comments 👇😉 And I'll go take the ginger cat off the handlebars — he's perched there and is sure he's now the main navigator on our trips. 😹❤️ #china #chinatravel #chinatrip #tripcom #tripmoment #china

🌊 Preface Many people say Yangshuo is too hot in summer and not suitable to visit. That's because you're going about it the wrong way! This time I stayed in Yangshuo for a week, playing in the water every morning, hiding in caves in the afternoon, and strolling West Street eating beer fish at night—it was incredibly comfortable. Actually, in summer, as long as you avoid the midday sun, Yangshuo is quite cool, especially by the Yulong River, where the breeze is refreshing. Today, I’m sharing my summer escape guide with you so you can have a great time in Yangshuo even in July. · -- 🌿 Why visit Yangshuo in July? Lush greenery, the most beautiful mountains and waters Summer is when Yangshuo is at its greenest. The water level of the Li River rises, the rice fields along the Yulong River are lush green, the mountains are greener, the water is clearer—every snapshot looks like an ink painting. Compared to the grayish dry season, summer Yangshuo is truly breathtaking. Off-peak travel, fewer crowds, lower prices Compared to the crowded National Day and Spring Festival holidays, summer sees far fewer tourists in Yangshuo. No need to rush for bamboo raft tickets, no need to book homestays far in advance, and prices are much cheaper—great value for money. You don’t have to dodge people when taking photos; shoot however you want. Right approach means no heat at all Many think Yangshuo is hot in summer because they’re out at noon. If you plan well—go out early in the morning, hide during midday, and head out again late afternoon—it won’t feel hot at all. Plus, Yangshuo’s heat is from the sun, not humidity; it’s especially cool under the shade of trees. · -- 📍 Must-visit cool spots Yulong River Bamboo Rafting A must-do in Yangshuo, no exceptions. Sit on a bamboo raft, drift slowly on the river, with karst peaks and rice fields on both sides, the breeze is cool and refreshing. The water is clear enough to see fish swimming, and if you’re lucky, you might spot water buffalo grazing by the riverbank. 💡 Tip: Choose the section from Jinlong Bridge to Jiuxian—fewer people, better scenery, the essence of Yulong River. Silver Cave One of Guilin’s largest caves, with a constant temperature of 20°C inside—entering in summer feels like stepping into a natural air-conditioned room. Stalactites sparkle under the lights like silver, very dreamy. The whole tour takes about an hour, no backtracking, cool and beautiful. 💡 Tip: It’s a bit chilly inside, bring a light jacket. Ten-Mile Gallery Cycling Rent an electric bike and leisurely ride along the Ten-Mile Gallery; the breeze on your face is especially pleasant. Scenery all along the way, stop whenever you want, take photos freely. Recommended to go in the morning or evening to avoid the sun and enjoy good lighting. 💡 Tip: Electric bike rental is 30 yuan per day, remember to bargain. Li River Night Cruise The Li River at night is ten times more comfortable than during the day. Take a boat from Yangshuo Pier; the mountains become black silhouettes, lights outline their shapes, and the river breeze is cooler than air conditioning. You can enjoy watermelon and beer on board—very relaxing. 💡 Tip: Choose a boat around 8 PM when it’s just dark; the scenery is best. · -- 🗺️ 4 days 3 nights summer escape itinerary Day 1: Arrive in Yangshuo → Stroll and eat on West Street → Stay in Yangshuo Day 2: Yulong River bamboo rafting → Ten-Mile Gallery cycling → Stay by Yulong River Day 3: Silver Cave → Peach Blossom Land → Li River night cruise → Stay in Yangshuo Day 4: Xingping Ancient Town → 20-yuan background photo spot → Return trip · -- ⚠️ Summer escape and pitfalls guide Clothing suggestions · Tops: Short sleeves + sun protection clothing; physical sun protection is best · Bottoms: Shorts or long skirts; good for photos and cool · Shoes: Sandals or water shoes; convenient for playing in water · Accessories: Sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen; the sun is really strong Summer tips 1. Go out before 8 AM, return by 11 AM to avoid midday heat 2. Stay in a cave or café at noon, a nap is fine too 3. Go out again after 4 PM when the sun is less intense 4. Carry a small fan to cool off when hot 5. Drink lots of iced jelly and sweet soups to cool down and enjoy Pitfall reminders 1. Buy bamboo raft tickets only at official piers; don’t trust roadside touts 2. Don’t buy souvenirs on West Street; prices are inflated—supermarkets are better 3. Choose live fish for beer fish, not frozen 4. Check electric bike condition carefully to avoid being scammed 5. Don’t trust “low-price one-day tours”—they’re all shopping tours · -- 🍜 What to eat in Yangshuo? Beer Fish Yangshuo’s signature dish, made with fish from the Li River, stewed with beer; the fish is tender, the broth rich, perfect with rice. Recommended: Jian Gu fish, fewer bones and tender meat, very tasty. Stuffed Field Snails A local specialty, meat stuffing inside field snails, with a unique fresh flavor, very delicious. Lipu Taro Braised Pork Taro is soft and sticky, soaked with the aroma of meat, even better than the meat itself. Guilin Rice Noodles A must-have breakfast; the broth is the soul, mixed with pickled bamboo shoots, peanuts, and scallions—super fragrant. Recommended to go to local favorite shops for authentic taste. Iced Jelly A summer cooling must-have, icy cold with brown sugar syrup and hawthorn slices—one bowl cools you down completely. · -- 💡 Some practical advice About accommodation · Stay on West Street for lively atmosphere, by Yulong River for quiet · If budget allows, choose river-view homestays; open the window to mountains and waters, worth every penny · In summer, air conditioning is a must; nights are cool but days can be hot About transportation · Yangshuo is small; electric bikes cover all travel needs · To Xingping, take the bus from Yangshuo Bus Station · For Li River cruises, choose official operators for safety and reliability Best photo times · 7-9 AM when the mist hasn’t cleared, mountains and waters look like ink paintings · 5-7 PM at sunset, the sky turns pink and purple, very beautiful · Don’t be discouraged by rain; after rain, Yangshuo is misty and atmospheric · -- 🌅 Final thoughts Many say Yangshuo has become commercialized and less fun. But I think, as long as you find the right way to experience it, Yangshuo is still Yangshuo. Drifting on the Yulong River in the morning, daydreaming in a café in the afternoon, eating and drinking on West Street at night—who wouldn’t love that? If you want a place to spend your summer, come to Yangshuo. Here you’ll find mountains, waters, delicious food, and a slow pace of life. Trust me, you’ll fall in love with it. · -- Accommodation 🏨 Yueshu | Wild Luxury Vacation Villa (Yangshuo Ten-Mile Gallery Yulong River Branch) Located in the core scenic area of Ten-Mile Gallery, this wild luxury villa offers excellent privacy, an outdoor pool blending with karst peaks, standalone villas with private courtyards, perfectly combining mountain and water scenery with luxury vacation comfort—Yangshuo’s top choice for high-end stays. 🏨 Shan Li Shan Wai • BYMA • Valley Secret Resort Hotel (Yangshuo Ten-Mile Gallery Yulong River Branch) A high-end resort hotel located in the heart of Yulong River’s Ten-Mile Gallery, adjacent to Shuiedi bamboo raft pier, featuring minimalist and elegant New Chinese Song-style wabi-sabi design, buildings staggered along the mountain, immersing guests in Yangshuo’s pastoral mountain and water scenery, far from city noise. 🏨 Yangshuo Puyuan · VILLA Garden Starry Sky Pool Panoramic Resort Hotel A highly rated resort on Yangshuo’s reputation list, enjoy wild luxury time while lying down watching an ink painting scroll, the garden starry sky pool and panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows capture the karst peaks in full view—a secret vacation spot well known among savvy travelers. 🏨 Yangshuo · Muye Mountain Villa | Moye · Villa Guilin Mountain Water Resort Hotel (Yulong River Ecological Park Branch) A minimalist and elegant wabi-sabi style mountain water resort villa beside Yulong River Ecological Park, open the window to stunning peaks, enjoy mountain and water views from the bathtub, suitable for group bookings of the entire villa, perfectly blending nature and modern design with a full atmosphere. · --

The Silver Cave Scenic Area in Lipu, Guilin, has completed a comprehensive upgrade of its lighting system, transforming the billion-year-old karst cave into an immersive light and shadow wonderland. The cave maintains a constant temperature of 25°C, with a gentle and comfortable 2-kilometer walking path, making the tour easy and stress-free. The upgrade uses soft lighting technology to restore the natural color of the stalactites, with the Silver Diamond area shimmering with silver light and transparent rock walls. Combining 3D mapping and dynamic lighting effects, it creates highlight scenes such as the Fairy Pool Wonderland (water reflections + mountain-shaped projections), Verdant Rivers and Mountains (rock wall projection of "A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains"), and the Primordial Pearl Umbrella (the cave's treasure appearing even more magnificent and mysterious under the new lighting). Points like the Gold-Hiding Cave, Money Tree, and Golden Key incorporate blessings, blending ritual significance with wishes for wealth. The cave's coffee area offers a quiet spot to appreciate the cave's aesthetics, and multiple interactive light and shadow spots make for effortless photo opportunities that need no filters to impress. Visit Silver Cave, and you’ll never lack money in life—come to Guilin and start your unique journey now!
