Where italians really go on vacation in Liguria🌊🏖️
Loano is a charming, family friendly coastal town on the Italian Riviera (Liguria). Renowned for its mild climate, Blue Flag beaches, and historical Doria family heritage, it perfectly blends a vibrant seaside atmosphere with easy access to hiking and sports.
Less popular between foreigners compared to other destinations in the region, this is where a lot of italians, especially from the northern regions, actually vacation!
It's located roughly midway between Genoa and the French border, the two closest airports are Genoa and Nice and the train station is right in Loano center.
The town is home to one of the most modern tourist ports in Liguria, offering excellent dining, sailing, and a place for a beautiful sunset stroll.
The historic center is a labyrinth of traditional narrow alleys (caruggi) ready to be explored, you can shop around and find delicious gelato at every corner.
You can relax on both public free beaches and well-equipped private beach clubs offering sunbeds and seaside dining, as you can see from the pictures, the waters are cristal clear!
Enjoy all the regional cuisine, including trofie al pesto (basil pesto originated in the Liguria region!), focaccia, farinata (made with chickpea flour), coniglio alla ligure (rabbit cooked with olives and pine nuts), buridda (fish soup) and a lot of fresh fish!!
