Meihekou Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Zhibei Village Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The small city of Meihekou has something special
For the May Day holiday, I planned to avoid the crowds by visiting the small northeastern city of Meihekou, but it turned out to be packed with people... The photos I could take were limited, but the one-day trip experience was pretty good. If it were less crowded, I'd be willing to come back for another visit. Sharing a simple travel guide overnight!
Recommended must-visit spots:
1 Zhibei Village
It's a village with a northeastern architectural style from the 70s and 80s of the last century. Inside the village, there's a supply and marketing cooperative, museum, pastoral ranch, snack street, intangible cultural heritage street, and some specialty shops (photo studio, post office, etc.), as well as a few chain commercial stores. It's suitable for strolling, taking photos, and eating. The prices for snacks at the entrance and inside the village are quite fair, not exorbitantly priced like other tourist areas. Before coming, I read in a guide that the main entrance's Mei Xiaoye Starry Flower Sea is also worth visiting, but it seems due to the season? The flowers were not blooming yet.
2 Hailong Lake
A 4A scenic spot, it feels like a big park, but it's well-planned and clean, suitable for a lakeside breeze and walking. There are many camping or picnic spots by the lake, and you can also take a boat or speedboat. Due to limited time, I didn't go deep into the area, and I regret not reaching the photogenic camping base.
3 Northeast Never Sleeps City
The place I was most looking forward to, it's really rare to find something like this in the northeast! It's a few streets that combine food and performances. On both sides of the road are snack vendors with a rich variety, and every few dozen meters there are performances: ethnic dances, performance art, bonfire parties, and so many, so many beautiful women in ancient costumes. The performances are at fixed times, starting one after another from around 6 pm. I suggest checking the schedule on the official WeChat account before going.
✔ Key point, all these attractions are free to enter! You'll need to choose whether to pay for certain activities within the scenic area.
OK, the most famous delicacy in Meihe is probably the 'Yinglan Chaozu Guobaorou' (Yinglan Chaozu sweet and sour pork), but because it was so crowded during May Day, I couldn't wait for a table and gave up on it. Instead, I chose the nearby 'Yongshu Laogao Lijia', where the barbecue was okay, but it's just the average level you can find anywhere, and the cold noodles were really disappointing, dammit ( Next time when it's less crowded, I must try the Guobaorou!

Do you remember Zhibei Village in Meihekou?
The photos are from October
The entrance of Zhibei Village really gives off the vibe of a socialist new countryside! The atmosphere and scenery in the village are beautiful~ There are folk commercial streets, yellow mud walls, thatched roofs, log houses, retro street corners, courtyards, flowers and plants, and miniature train tracks, all reminiscent of childhood memories. The place is just as enjoyable and walkable as any paid scenic spot, suitable for kids, the elderly, and the whole family to visit together. You can stroll and eat, escape the hustle and bustle of the city, return to simplicity, and also relive the beautiful memories of childhood.
However, try to avoid holidays, because it gets overcrowded with people, after all, the scenic area is not that large...

A lesser-known travel destination in the northeast, Meihekou
1: Korean-Chinese Yilang Guobaorou, specializing in Guobaorou; it's very popular and often requires queuing, so it's better to go early~ The cold noodles are also tasty, with a sweet and sour flavor.
2: After the meal, we went straight to Zhibei Village Flower Sea for photos, a vast expanse of flowers, and there's even a little train, where you can ride and take pictures.
Pictures 3, 4: Zhibei Village, which has some northeastern specialty shops, restaurants, and homestays, is also very photogenic. It's recommended to try the hot and sour noodles in Zhibei Village!!!

Accommodation: The hotel is a newly opened Jinjiang Star, located opposite the train station, newly renovated with good conditions, clean and tidy, and the service is good too~ Parking is more convenient at night, you can park next to the hotel.

Visiting the Little Jiangnan of Jilin: I encountered the water town in the snow.
In Meihekou, Jilin, there is a hidden beautiful place, which has the same beautiful scenery as the water town of Jiangnan. The severe winter has arrived, and the snow and the water town blend here, forming a fairy-tale beauty. This is the Hailong Lake Shili Shop in Meihekou. There are few people in the Shili Shop in winter, but the scenery is very beautiful. The water here does not freeze all year round, the big red lanterns are hung high, and there are many restaurants by the lake, from Jiangsu and Zhejiang dishes to local Korean special dishes, it is a good place for daily gatherings.

Zhibei Village Boutique Cultural Tourism Home stay Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Northeast China actually has such beautiful homestays! Every frame is like a painting
Staying at the boutique homestay in Zhibei Village, one household per person, with two exquisite courtyards, front and back, very beautiful. The loft we stayed in has two floors with one large bedroom and two large tatami mats, the space is big enough for at least 6 people. Zhibei Village is a government project, the whole village's commerce is very delicate, with a strong cultural and artistic atmosphere, even the toilets are library-style. We had a 'slaughter pig meal' in the village, with a huge portion, and the blood sausage was delicious. In the evening, after a walk around the village, you can also go to the night market, the great Northeast is really nice.
❤Recommended reason:
I really like this little place❤️Zhibei Village
